I'd like to use Animaljam as a reference for this situation.
Many people on that game use the wiki as a guide for the rarities.
If the wiki no longer existed, many people would be clueless as to the rarity of their items,
and it'd be harder to find someone willing to take a "fair" trade because to one person, what's fair, is not the same to another- because there's nothing defining exactly the true value of the items.
This game, as I feel chickensmoothie is,
is in a way, most used for it's trading system.
As much as chickensmoothie has many other reasons to be on the site,
Trading has always been a huge part of my reason to play, and many other's .
I just think removing the list will cause a lot of issues.
Yet to be fair, the Animal Jam rarity system itself is in shambles, just as the economy on CS is. One day one item on AJ will be worth 5 spikes (An item almost every player has, it's basically just trading currency), and the next day, the item will not be worth that. It's ALWAYS changing. Just as CS is. Finally scrapping the list was a big change, and for many, a change for the better.

I haven’t gotten enough trades to finish it off. I might just end up using two of mine! I don’t think i’ll do anymore C$ ones. I just want to see how many people value it! If anyone wants to send trades, please do! c:

You should do like 10 trades per survey, they look really fun to fill out!
C$ might be ok to include but yeah, probably only need one per survey.
Will check my trade logs when I'm home c:

I had been reading the discussion on sort of valueing all rares the same despite date and how all very rares should be considered above rares earlier and I find it to be a very interesting concept! It certainly wasn’t one I had considered but it makes sense and I think it would definitely make trading easier. I mean, shouldn’t all rares be equal since they ARE the same rarity? And the same for all other rarities. I’m just worried that might be a change that people find very hard to adjust to since it goes against everything we’ve been conditioned to think. For example, an older rare for a newer store pet like you guys were discussing earlier. Or trading 2 2010 rares for a 2009. It’s how I’ve traded, and many others too, for years. I hope this is a change we can put forward though because I think it would relax trading for sure and make it not as stressful.
Another concern I have is with how we’ll trade ex-list pets. Are we going to treat them as normal rares? Or still kind of hold them above the rest for being on the list? When I was looking at the survey and I saw the trade where it was some list pet for a few 09 rares, my automatic reaction was to prefer the list side since then “I would already be on the list.” It’s a hard habit to break. I really like where we’re going though and I think it’s all for the better even though it will be really hard to adjust. I’m not really sure what the point of this was, just to share my thoughts I guess lol. But thank you guys for all the hard work you’re putting in to help the community.

This has also been what i have been wondering. If it's the one that i am thinking of that you are referring to (doesnt seem to be available to view anymore), that being a tier 1 advent, would supposedly had been a "fair" offer according to the gaps list on the retired guide. But i also would have probably stuck with the list side as well, since....you know....it's a list pet. I see what you mean now, old habits dying hard.
They still should definitely have higher reguard than regular VR's i think, although It might also be worth putting one's self in the other trade partner's shoes as well. Let's say like they are trying to get their hands on their very first list pet and starting off at the very bottom, so they went to the guide and read about what they would need to fill the "gap" in 09 rares to get there. That is assuming the guide had still been active at the time they were going for it of course. c:

When answering on the FTT I acknowledge the pets former rares list position and it is was advent or low tiered September, I believe it still is worth roughly the same. It’s from about the pink September+ tier where the gaps get bigger that I don’t particularly like.
Going off the Nick data in the previous pages that dark spawn brought up, a OMGSR is only valued at 40 VR’s max. Which makes sense if you work with those numbers.
I am valuing the OMGSR’s at 100 VR’s right now as a way to ondicate not only how overpriced pets were, but to help figure it ratios.
It’s been really difficult and I have to admit by trying to answer people there’s been a... um, fee interesting replies to this. People aren’t liking it. At all. So it makes me wonder what’s the way to go if this isn’t the correct way?
I am on mobile.

I think dates are still very relevant though not in the exponential way we trade. Not every rare is the same simply due to the fact that older rares are still being counted but everywhere in locked groups whereas newer rares are in everyone's trade groups.
It doesn't take a lot of trading to realize this, just try hoarding a recent common vs a 2012 common. You'll easy get 1000 of the recent common, and find it in the pound too, but it will be a real challenge finding 200 of the old one, even if you do year for year swaps.
