as you come to hug me, going off to your big journey, I scream at you and run away.
"I hate you!"

I didn't know you were going off to the army.
No one had mentioned it.

I thought I could hate you, because I knew you were here with me for almost forever.

4 years after you left for your journey, Ma came towards me and smiled softly.

3 days ago, I had Ma write down the adress of wherever my brother was, and I sent him a letter. I had felt bad, and missed him wildly.

"Honey," She said gently, and stroked my hair. "Your brother..." She started sniffling and crying, I didn't know what was going on.
"Ma," I said and hugged her tightly.

"Why hasn't brother wrote back to me? "

She started bawling.
"Your brother set off to the army, and..."

Tears started to well in my eyes.
"He... was supposed to come home today. He... didn't make it."

"Ma? What do you mean?"

"He's... gone.."

i didn't mean to take you for granted,
all that meant was-
i love you, brother...

The thin and delicate creature threaded her way through the tall, dark trees. They towered over her, making her feel small and helpless. The last traces of early morning mist clung to the dark trunks, and it was far too chilly. She was sure it was midday, but not a single ray of sunlight penetrated through the thick canopy above.

Suddenly something lunged at her from the depths of the forest. She shrieked and stumbled backwards, but it was already upon her, snapping and snarling.

"Help, help," she cried out desperately, struggling hopelessly, pinned down to the leaf-scattered forest floor, "don't hurt me!"

Some of pressure was released from her chest, though the beast still kept her firmly pinned down. "I wouldn't dream of it, darling, wouldn't dream of it..." She recognized the smooth, silky voice with a shudder of loathing.

"Oh, you frightened me," she muttered, in a falsely cheery voice, looking up at her attacker. His eyes glinted oddly in the gloom, the rest of his body blending into the darkness behind him.

"Yes, I have a potential for doing that, don't I darling?" he said in that soft, cool voice of his.

"No kidding..." she muttered ruefully under her breath.

"What was that?" he asked sharply, eyes narrowing.

"Nothing," she said, hastily, voice trembling with fear. But his hearing was just as good as his eyesight.

"Yep, just scary old me, darling." he said, smiling crudely. "Got a problem with that?"

"No, of course not..."
