idk, I initially thought it was intentional myself; hormones are complicated things, and their effects can be long-lasting or even permanent (a trans woman friend of mine once commented to me that "testosterone is forever"), so it made sense to me that a trans doe might retain the buck's thicker neck.
That said: as a general note, Doglike has already chimed in to clarify it was an oversight (a common one, if I'm reading the room right!), so I don't think it's productive to go looking for ill intent where there isn't any.
On another note, could our remaining macaw be a
varied bunting? I do think tonight's is a purple finch, as was guessed previously.
