I have always thought that Store pets should have their own rarity tag, especially since it has been stated by Tess that they are custom and not part of the regular collection. But I also think this because of the fact that they are not FREE pets, you have to buy them with C$, which, even if you yourself didn't buy that C$ with real money, SOMEONE did! At some point that C$ you collected from trading was purchased with real money, and real money to me is worth a lot more than a free pet! Also because they are NOT re-released during Advent, meaning that their numbers will never increase, what's out there is all there is and the older they get, the more rare they become as users become inactive meaning their numbers are dwindling as far as what's available for trade.
I honestly have never traded my store pets for what the 'what is this pet worth' thread has suggested, I will never trade a new store pet for only a 2010 rare, if people don't want to trade me something more valuable now, then I will just hold on to them until they are older and then people will shell out a bit more for it because the older they get, the harder they are to come by! Sorry if that seems like I'm greedy, but I am one of those that actually does use her own hard earned money to buy C$ with so I can purchase the Store pets for my own collection and a set for future trading with and I won't trade something I spent my hard earned money on away lightly! Whether it's a dollar or a hundred dollars, money is money! XD
However, I'm not certain their own separate list would be much good, because a lot of people will want to trade them for non store pets, so we would need to know where they stand amongst the regular pets, and I'm not sure how that would happen with their own list. I do still think they should have their own rarity tag though, to help place them maybe, but also to help with trading, as not a lot of people recognize store pets as store pets, especially newer players. I had to finally move all my store pets to a separate trade folder at one point due to too many people offering on them as though they were a regular pet from that month/year, even with a VR tag, I would get offers of only 2-3 2018 rares for my 2018 VR store pet!
Anyway, that's just my thoughts on that topic!
I agree with you for the most part, the only thing I would not really agree with is the fact that they should get their own rarity tag and not their own list, because with the new rarity tag, how would their rarity tag compare to the Omgsr tag or the Very rares tag, and how would it be decided on how to trade pets with those rarities for a store pet? Also, we can’t really group such a large spectrum of pets into one rarity without having some way to see which are more rare than others other than just the date they were released.
Maybe if there is the be a store pet list, include suggestions on how they can be valued in terms of other pets? That could get shaky as well though, kind of like the gaps list, but that’s really just my opinion.
Also, the rarity tags can’t be changed by users alone, and currently the only thing we have is user based knowledge and efforts to make stuff easier to understand. A new rarity tag would have to be approved and implemented by Tess ;w;
