We don't know if they are new zebras or rereleases. We don't know if they are going to be adopted for the start or, for the first time, grow out of the foals, which is extremely unlikely), seeing as they just got the new zebra baby lines and EVERYONE LOVES THEM.
Everybody wants one. Almost no people get them. Why? They are Tess' fave animals and she wanted them to be the rarest pets on the site.
And I doubt it's a joke; Tess wouldn't be that cruel, nor would she have any reason to do so.
Anyways, I'd say most of the "facts" such as these posted on this so far are guesses (though many are educated guesses), hopes, and opinions.
My personal opinion/hope is that since so many people adore the new foal lines that Tess is adding a *single* new outcome; a PPS or EPPS.

I doubt it, there is absolutely no hints of new outcomes in the News, Nick just said they're bringing back what they did back when the zebras were first released. And that means, it's the same old zebras being rereleased. No new outcomes, not hidden. Just extremely ultra rare.

I know it's a long shot, I just thought that that would be really cool. :p I extremely doubt it'll actually happen, though- at least not now.

This, I think, is a good thing to see, however, since you said that there was no mention of new outcomes:

it's not certain yet, but it is a definite possibility that we may include the zebras (as ultra rare outcomes) in future horse/pony litters like we used to do a few years ago

the rarity for those outcomes was always so high that it was basically like winning the lottery if you got one, there were only a few zebras per month, so it shouldn't affect the rarity noticeably

however, aside from re-releasing the existing outcomes we will probably make a new zebra outcome or 2 for a special occasion so that everyone has a chance to own a zebra pet (like when we updated the unicorn linearts and released a few special unicorns not long afterward)

They are just the Grevy's, Mountain & Plains Zebra

That actually disappoints me I thought maybe they'd actually bring new zebras onto the site not just the old ones....Honestly I'm not that excited about them, I mean if I ever adopt one well yeah I'll be happy, but I rather ave new designed zebras like the chirstmas were nice.

Same here...sorry for saying they were going to be new outcomes, I really thought they were! *sigh* I was super excited to see what the new ones would've looked like but now I know they're just the old ones I'm not really interested.

They are May pets since they are in a litter that was released in May :3

Guys, GUYS, I have nothing to do with this, ok? I didn't even have the slightest idea there would be a zebra this month. If Tess played the evil sneaky ninja and actually hid a zebra as a foal's last stage or not(which I absolutely doubt), don't look at me. XD

Wait! To everyone complaining about how they didn't get one, what if instead of getting the zebra newborn straight away when adopting, one of the horse newborns turns into one later on in the month?

Not really. People would be upset they didn't get to watch their rereleased pet grow up as itself, there would be people incredibly angry that they were 'tricked' into thinking it was a normal outcome after they swapped it with someone, and it makes no sense for them to do that and waste the freshly redone zebra line-art. And it wouldn't solve any ninja trading, since people would still try it.

It would cause a lot more problems than any it could possibly solve.

If only I could like posts. :v

Also, this is the first time in a long time where I get all of the noticeably different at 1st stage pets for once >_>....
