I think my main issue is that they are store pets. Even if the book is beyond copyright period, it just seems rude to make money off someone else's original ideas and creations.
I mean if they were inspired by the book that's cool, be inspired, inspiration has to come from somewhere. But to make the characters pretty much straight up, and put them up for site currency that is purchased with real money to benefit the site. Not cool with me at all. Thus I will not be buying them or trading for them.
I agree. I don't like the line art edits for this month's store pets. :c

The Bandersnatch nor the JubJub bird ever appeared in the book; thus the designs/line-edits are 100% original. The Cheshire Cat is just a grinning cat.
Furthermore, isn't making money off someone else's original idea exactly what the producers of the newer versions/offshoots of Alice In Wonderland are doing?

Yes but with permission from the corporation that has rights to make those newer versions and offshoots. Totally different than a pet site making them. And since the bandersnatch and jubjub aren't in the original, and are in newer versions, wouldn't they be under copyright to the company that holds rights to the newer versions?

Yeah, well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

I've read the book several times and this is true, the Cheshire cat IS really just a smiling cat., and they do not look exactly alike, Ricorn added her own style to the pets, I love the the store pet! They look Extraordinary!

The Bandersnatch and JubJub bird are in the book - as mentions.
'`Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!'
^Quote from the book^
When I mean they never appeared in the book, I mean they literally never appeared; they had no physical appearance, thus all remakes of them are pure speculation. No corporation owns the rights to the original Alice In Wonderland - it's completely free to the public to do whatever they want with it, approved or not. So long as you don't copy someone else's adaption(such as making a Cheshire exactly the same color/pattern as the Disney version)

I thought that was from The Jabberwocky?
She says it’s been so long
She can’t remember when
The mention of his name
Didn’t make her feel again
That anything is possible
And every day’s a brand new start
And love’s something powerful
When it finds a willing heart.
There’s a keeper for every flame.
There was someone in his past
That he hasn’t gotten over yet
Each day is like the last
He just misses what he can’t forget
It’s just an empty space
Where something used to be
Now he guards the gate,
but he’s lost the key
So no one enters, but no one leaves
There’s a keeper for every flame.
~Keeper for Every Flame, Mary Chapin Carpenter
