They do don't they have a look at this:

The v-day cat has a bit of its right wing sticking out near its shoulder and the left wing sticks out a bit on the cats back.
Added a normal cat so you can see what I mean.

That's because they do. See how there's a bit sticking out from behind it on the left side by it's far front shoulder/neck? And the wing on our side goes past the lineart of the back a bit.

I luff todays kitty, those wings are brilliant. And the 2nd gen rats are purdy (*wishes she could do as good a 2nd gen*).
Awesome dragon is awesome.

Those element dogs, though. I hope the other outcomes are better than todays.

I'm thrilled about all of tonight's growths! I hadn't paid much attention to the elemental dogs as puppies but WOW that green dog makes me want to hoard it, but I'll have to see what his littermates look like. I'm overwhelmed by the prettiness of it all

They're supposed to. The artist said they originally made the items to be part of the lineart of the dogs but it got changed and they ended up seperate :p
