Love this rat, awesome design

When I saw it I thought "It's a vanilla rat!", I think that's how I will call them now.

I think malk cheated by making something awesome, even more awesome.

In my opinion its just a case of there being only a small number of ways to create a naturally coloured fox. The earlier one was probably made just to be a normal fox, and we know this one was based off one of Malk's personal characters, which means their similarity probably only comes from them sharing a species. The older fox was made without Malk knowing she would do her character one day, but she shouldn't have just left out this character because it was similar.

I'm ranting, its a bit late here so I'm not making sense.

I'm with Maria on this one. While they share some similar coloration, the differences in their patterns are notable.

I think it's because the new Malk Fox has no whiskers. ^^;

I thought they were talking of seeing them like a couple or siblings, not about similarities. I should stop lurking at the CS Pet Pairs so much. ^^;

I had not noticed that the new Malk Fox had no whiskers. Oo The lines did look different, but I couldn't tell what it was. I thought it was the eye area. XD

No whiskers?! I didn't even notice that until just now. D: Need more coffee.

I think that they are not whiskers, but lines used by drawers to create an illusion of movement

XD I think they're whiskers, most of Malk's drawings have them, stationary or moving.
