Re: Pet Counts for Rarity Ratios - What should we count next

If the Ice rats were separately adoptable then counting them won't tell us anything, we will need to rely on rerelease data for them I guess. For the pawprint rats we know one went OMGSR briefly, but it may still be worth counting them to see how far away the other one was, and when we have the rerelease data we can try to compare them across litter to match them up to other pets?

What is the best way of approaching this, should I cut up the "Other" data into chunks so everyone can pitch in looking for Pawprint Rats, or ?

I was hoping to have time to put together a spreadsheet today for the next project but I have some work to do. I will try to get at least one set up soonish though.

Solloby, I still have the August compiled pet data saved. Would it help if I went through and told you which ranges already have the Pawprint Rats counted?

If I was to separate them into chunks I'd probably just filter by Other and grab a stack from there? How big should the stacks be roughly?

I would assume they are a lot quicker to go through since you only really have to start at the first ID then flip through them until you find a July rat to record it (may as well write down the Ice rats even though their data may not be as useful, it's still worth doing for demand purposes at least imo).

I'd be happy to go through some myself after I get a bit of this other work I need to do first.

You said we had roughly 3000 'Other pets'? We could continue to split them into chunks of 250; that seemed to be a manageable amount.

I'm not sure they can be split exactly as there are a different number of Other pets in each group and we don't want large ID number jumps in the data, but yeah chunks of ~250 or ~500 would be fine. It should go a LOT quicker than regular counting because you only have to stop flipping through IDs with your browser's next addon when you encounter a Pawprint or Ice rat.

I'll manually fix the July rats already identified in the master list and update the hidden mapping table I have in the master spreadsheet.

I've made a master list of Other pets: http://sta.sh/0cxfuf22o50

I can convert it into chunks later or someone else can do it if you guys want to start right now.
Whatever you do don't delete or move the stuff on the right though (example spelling, it's actually a mapping table for the VLookups on the Litter column).

Edit: Had a bit of free time, I've done the first lot up to 20250.

There are no rats in either the 30002-30249 or 50001-50250 sections.
EDIT: Will also look at the next sections: 40000-40500
40000-40500 'Other Pet' data

I'll do 20252-20500 and 20753-20992 in the morning. (I think there's just over 100 pets to count in those combined?)

If we're going in order, these are the next few chunks of data. Note that the ID numbers do have gaps between them as we are focused on identifying the Lime/Blue Ice Rats and the Light/Dark Pawprint Rats originally labeled as "Other Pet" in the August data. Therefore many of these should be quick and easy to count.

30252-30496
50251-50500 (There's a little more to count here than the other ranges)
22011-22231
23002-23237
24000-24232
23752-23999
23151-23500
23501-23721

Will post new update soon

^ Thanks for the data Pelicandreams, I've updated the master spreadsheet. I will have to redo some calculations with all the rat litters at some point. In the meantime I will try to get a July template up soon. Thanks for posting the IDs Fizzlebee!

Half of those ranges were from sets where the original counter had already tracked the Ice and Pawprint Rats, so I went ahead and did the ones that weren't. I'm doing all my ranges on one spreadsheet that I'll post when we get to the end of the rat count.

Here's the rest of the ranges that need to be counted:

25501-25748 Pelican Dreams
25762-26000 Pelican Dreams
26001-26248 Pelican Dreams
25006-25250 Done by original counter
27002-27250
27252-27500
24263-24482 Done by original counter
26265-26493
26503-26737
26759-26998
22506-22750 Done by original counter
21005-21249 Fizzlebork
21254-21498 Fizzlebork
21753-21988 Done by original counter
21504-21749 Done by original counter
25251-25499 Done by original counter

27751-28000 Fizzlebork

Thanks for looking up the ranges Fizzlebee!
I'll look at the first three sections and see how long that takes me.
25501-25748
25762-26000
26001-26248
