It is old school themed, which is the name of a certain style of tattoo (which is also called American traditional, so odin was right as well!)
The droplets on the foals are supposed to be drops of tattoo ink, and for the newborn I just took the old school theme literally.

The first horse has a compass and flowers, which are pretty common in old school tattoos c:

It looks amazing! I can't wait to see what the others grow up like. With the little ink-drops, I'm hoping the speckles will stay.

I bet the horses will all vary a lot, but use some of the same colors. That's my guess. I'm really excited to see the last butterfly wolf grow! So far, the first one is my favorite, I actually really like those colors together.
