Staff Litter 2015 Discussion Thread V.2

My favourite dog from this year's litter earned the title by a landslide.


Metallic Dragon's lovely, lovely floof woof!
I don't know where to begin with this cutie. I wasn't entirely convinced of the colour palette this time around, and orange is usually one of my least favourite colours. But this dog wears it well!
The little sun markings give the design just the right amount of extra it needs.
The line edits are nice and clean, and a very adorable idea.

Personally, I must admit I am not a big fan of how heavily edited a lot of the staff dogs are (a trend that grows stronger with every year, and much to the delight of the majority of people, as it seems x3), so seeing more "simple" or even non-edited ones always makes me happy.
Despite admiring a lot of the extravagant edits, I tend to end up liking the more simple ones best, as evident by my picks when it comes to the faves of each year.
(2009, 2010, 2011 (best.one.ever!), 2012, 2013, 2014)

This floof kinda throws me back to the first staff litter, where really outrageous edits were few and in between (nowadays, not even the Shima Longtail would really count as "heavily edited"; the Malk Mutant is probably the only one that would).
While I love seeing what the artists can come up with each year, I am very fond of these "simple" gems.

Floof woof is pretty, adorable, and currently the only one of this year's litter that I plan on keeping.
Kudos to Metallic for making such a gorgeous pet~

I would very much agree with you Zel. Though I like a few of the heavily edited dogs, I admire those you can do the edits and pull them off, I find myself liking the simple ones with interesting design choices. Such as Metallic Dragon's Floof one and sketchi's little beauty. ^_^

This is super late (as always ha) but... Oh my goodness. Even if Lilian hadn't confessed early, I could've told by how beautiful and similar it looks to last year's dog.

my favorites have to be these three:



i think the color scheme was the main reason i'm not head over heels for most of the pets (blue and orange don't really go well together imo, and even with the really cool designs it just doesn't work for me) but these three really managed to make it look balanced. my absolute favorite for the litter is Yağmur's merlion, which isn't surprising because every time Yağmur participates in any event their pets are my favorites tbh. the staff did a great job! i can't find a single dog that i don't like this year! (although i wish the color palette had been easier on the eyes.) can't wait to see what they come up with next time

I can't believe you all thought it was a seal or a sea lion. Were the scales really that unnoticeable?
Today's staff pet is all me, his name is Siloso and he is based of the merlion statues here in Singapore. I have a photo of the one spitting out water
I also can't believe no one figured that the mod who lives in Singapore would be responsible for the merlion dog lol

As a child the merlion struck a lot of interest in me. I especially liked the big statue found at Sentosa island so when I figured I could draw water with this year's palette, I went for it! This is year is also a significant year for Singapore, it's Singapore's 50th year of independence and it's a big deal here. I am really proud of my staff pet this year.

omg, that's so cool! i'm malaysian, but i've been to singapore before, it's beautiful <3 so many trees, and Orchard Road is so pretty at night ^^

Well, it's my first month ever being part of a staff dog event. I have to say for the two months I've been here, it was quite fun!


Honestly, I think this is my favorite out of them all. I love them all, I really do. But this one stands out for me in front of all the others.

Now for my personal views on each staff dog, I'll do three at a time to avoid brain damage CX first up...



Lillian, how could you you not love this?!? I am a big Percy Jackson and all around myth fan, so a centaur dog is kind of a big thing for me <3 The only thing that throws me off a little is the transition between dog and horse. The dog design seems to sort of end abruptly, but overall all I adore this dog, and also how the design doesn't change a whole lot at the end of the dog's body.

Oh gosh, I love this Phoenix-Gryphon-Dog that you made, Atwood! I love the variation of blue and orange, and it looks very cute. I think that it's very cool on how it looks so different from the pup! As said before, I am a mythofreak and this was a big celebration for me.



I also love this guy <3 The kind of abrupt transition between fur and tail is wiped nearly completely away by that little fold of fur coming over the tail. I love the bluish, glowing tint to this one, and the eyes made me think it was Doctordraca's when I first saw it <3
