It's not a scam, it's mostly based on demand when you don't know the rarity. If you want to pay rares for pets you don't know the rarity of, it's your choice.

wow.. that's alot for just the burnt dogs. I felt bad because I didn't have a burnt dog, so I paid a '10 rare for one... /dissapointed now.
