With staff dogs right around the corner I wonder what's your process in designing your staff dog? Do you let the colors inspire you? Do you picture a character and bring them to life? Do you go in with a theme with another staff member? I am just all kinds of curious what thoughts go on to deliver the beauties we get evey year c:

My inspiration varies from year to year, sometimes the palette itself is inspiring, sometimes it’s another character, or something real in my life, or just that I wanted to make a certain edit or challenge myself in a certain way with the design. I will say my staff dog for this year is done but I haven’t decided on a name yet. I can’t believe this is the 9th one! Next year will have to be really special.

how do you get your art to pop? youse really know how to get unique, bright but almost glossy sorta shading + lighting on the pets youse draw/design on here, do you have any tips on how to improve my own technique to get a similar look? bc i think your art is really admirable in that department ^_^ thanks!

My process has historically been forcing the colors to fit my theme, which evolved accidentally over the years that I've participated. It's not particularly elegant lol I'm afraid if I share more this year, I might give it away before the fun begins. ^^

Some of the time, I am inspired by things I've seen (like my bull and my alligator), or even news stories (my vaquita). Sometimes it's things that I love (my orca), or media that I enjoy (my antlered dog and honey badger).
Sometimes, I just sit down and... Go. I might have one or two design elements in mind to try to work in, and maybe I have settled on an animal to base the design around (I rarely wind up with a canine result, there's almost always something else in there), but it winds up being what it winds up being.

Wondering if any of the staff, have any favorite item for pets? Like I know some people have answered favorite pet a few times, but I've never seen staff answer favorite item, or even favorite dress up. Any staff, is there any particular items you like, don't like, or a favorite dress up?

Not at all.
I blame my ADHD brain and bad memory. Routine would be good, but I can never remember it... LOL.

Wondering if any of the staff, have any favorite item for pets? Like I know some people have answered favorite pet a few times, but I've never seen staff answer favorite item, or even favorite dress up. Any staff, is there any particular items you like, don't like, or a favorite dress up?

I love so many items, it's even harder to choose a favourite... but I can never resist these imps when I see them in the L&F I also always grab flower crowns or stars.

i have a morning routine: brush teeth, clean piercings, wash face, have breakfast, brush hair.
and then a nighttime routine: brush hair, chug some water, do the daily puzzles on my mobile games, and then scroll through either tiktok or instagram, whichever i feel like!

the rest of the day is up to chaos to decide :)

i don't have a favourite item, but when i see them in the lost and found, i always grab:

- coal
- sugar pearls
- konpeitō
- chocolate beans

they're great for DIY earrings!

hehehe I do now. Due to someone quitting at work I'm now the full time opening cook, So I wake up at 5am, on the days I work and between 5am and 6am on days I don't.

Prework is usually making my coffee, personal getting ready for the day stuff and taking my dog for her morning walk.

Non work days is laying in bed for three hours procrastinating getting up lol

I'm more productive after work anyways so I get errands and stuff done in the afternoons when I'm done.

I use those floating islands from the 2013 Slumber party in SO Many dressups, including my favourite one,



so they're definitely some of my favourite items,

Though i'm also obsessed with the "wisp" Horse set from Halloween 2014
