Hoard Discussions Thread v.7!

I'm going to try and keep this short and sweet for fear of it becoming a rant.. So, I am nearing 1k frogs left until I reach my 10k goal, they are still relatively easy to trade for. There still seems to be a lot going around... but lately I have been running into users who are either cancelling without a message or straight up telling me they don't trade to hoarders? I can kind of understand the gripe against hoarding rarer pets, though I don't agree with the argument. (I used to have a skeleton pps hoard myself) But these guys aren't any older than 2021? I get the feeling that some users feel that I am hoarding with the intention of not letting anyone else have them or out of greed... but it is more of a fixation. I would rather have 1000 of a pet that I love than a bunch of misc that can be with others that will enjoy them? I don't know. I will step off my soapbox now. c:

i've been running into this a bit myself too. it's very frustrating. i'm not a collector - there's quite a few pets/designs on here that i don't personally care for and don't really need to have. i prefer to hoard the ones that i do like, because i genuinely like trading for them and receiving them in trades and that's sort of just how i play the game.

but i've ran into more people that are just...actively against it, and it's just a pain. i have 4500 of the CS birthday birthstone foxes from 2020, i know someone else with a hoard of like 3500 of them, and they're still everywhere. i don't even actively trade for them anymore because i receive so many in trades.

tbh i only actively trade for a handful of hoards - particularly my wicked witch hamsters since it's my favorite/dearest hoard and i'm trying to hit 1k before the end of november when the wicked movie comes out. i just advertise a '1 C$ per 5 WL pets' trade thread and get a lot of hoard pets passively traded to me through that

This hoard was inspired by an episode of Bojack Horseman that I watched where one of the characters references Kintsugi (the act of repairing broken pottery with gold, which I assume was also the inspiration for this litter) in relation to her own mental health. I loved that episode and immediately thought of this hoard when I saw these dogs :>

I was going through and sorting my extras I put aside into more groups, and I'm finding several I want to make little hoards with.

I traded some rats out for a couple of these and brought out the ones from my "extras"...so I'll start with them. I picked the two from the litter I liked the best.

I'm wondering if people are giving different reactions from people with larger hoards as opposed to smaller ones. When I trade for pet hoards I try to take just one sometimes, it depends on the person I'm trading with. So far I haven't gotten much pushback. Then again I have blocked a couple people who do not trade hoards to people. Not that I have anything against them disliking hoards, it just makes it easier on me since 99% of my trades are hoards.

EDIT: @sky, I completely get it. I have seen a lot more people like that around as well. At this point I just buy from c$ stores or pay in gems from FR. Trading regularly has become tiresome. I do still try to send out trades once in awhile, but they either rot or people want ridiculous overpay for my most common hoards.

That's exactly what I've run into as well. ( I succumb to the overpayment lol ). Congrats on the macaw dogs though!!

I completely agree and we are on the same page. I am a collector as well, but I would never bar someone from wanting to complete their "collection" because in it of itself, hoarding is a "collection" technically. c: I agree though. I'll never understand that. They have them up for trade. Why not trade them for pets you want instead of worrying what I'm doing with them ahaha. However, it is their right to do what they want with their pets. It just makes me sad sometimes. haha.

I LOVE that!! Ah!! I actually got to see Wicked on broadway with the original cast. c: It is truly an epic musical and I'm so excited for the movie. The hoard is adorable. c: ( I took a peak at your dressup in your "project" group and its awesome as well. )

That's it as well. I do a lot of bulk trades, which can be overwhelming for some users. I have found that if you let them come to you, it is a lot smoother. c: I actually haven't blocked anyone yet but I think it would just make it easier to weed out who I know will want to trade with me. But the majority are super nice about it so I don't want to block them. I totally get if they don't want to trade away 30 of their frogs because, obviously, I wouldn't do that either haha. Some have been mean and I just avoid much interaction with them c:

I try not to let anti-hoarding stuff bother me. Its been a topic of debate ever since I joined in 2011 and I guess that will never change haha.

...I do always roll my eyes when I see someone making a big deal out of it in their trade rules though. lol. everyone plays the game differently. someone trading fairly for lots of the same pet because they like it is literally none of your business.

On a different note! I think I'm going to cap my once uncapped WORLD ON FIRE hoard at 666 :3

I started this hoard yearssssss ago when these dogs were much more common and the hoard already being at 666 just feels like a perfect number to stop at lol

The hardest part of starting hoards is definitely trying to figure out what the heck to name them.

I already have 8 of these dogs, but I don't know what to name their group...

I’ve also ran into this myself or even just getting foed by a bunch of people for being a hoarder and I agree with the person above in this quote I also do r really care to collect for most things I only want a full collection for a few species otherwise I just wanna hoard all the pets that make me happy I also love to hoard the birthstone foxes no where near as many as you though and curious question to my fellow multi hoard hoarders do you guys actively focus on one group at a time or just go for it all at once if the question makes sense ?

I'm finally to 58 of these cuties but honestly they are so hard to find.

if I ever fall in love with event pets, I try to hurry and finish the hoard during the event for smaller hoards, as I feel they are so much harder to find after the event concludes. anyone else struggle with event pet hoards?

@Vlad - as someone who has multiple smaller hoards, i think for me it really changes depending on multiple factors. sometimes i lowkey give up bc its so hard to find the pets, but i keep them on my wl just on the offchance someone has them? other times it kindajust changes just depending on how im feeling that day. i think generally i only spend *most* of my energy on one, but have the others going in the background just in case.

also i saw a bunch of y'all talking about hoarding/state of hoarding on CS and i totally agree with all of you. it's disheartening to see the state of hoarding bc like, ppl should be allowed to play the gamehow they want and punishing hoarders by making them overpay is like..... why :skull: it's just so unfun LMAO. my block list has def grown bc it just makes it easier knowing who i can trade with/who i can't. i've also started just relying on buying the pets when available too

i'm currently focused on hoarding these foxes but lowkey everyone has them locked or other ppl are hoarding them bc it's exhausting LOL

it is absolutely their right, yeah, i agree! just makes it frustrating to see some of my most favorite hoards and be unable to trade for them :'( but i do get it too haha

thank you!! i have a few dressups i'm proud of but i think my wicked project is my ultimate favorite

i'm so jealous you got to see wicked with the original cast! i've seen it three times (number 4 coming up in march) but never with the original cast, that's so cool! i usually obsess over one piece of media at a time but wicked's the one constant. my absolute favorite of all time haha


on a hoarding note, i'm so grumpy that the cats this month are so darn pretty because i did not need another hoard but i thought of a name for it that references my current media obsession ('Compass Points Library', if anyone gets that reference i'll love you forever) so now i have to hoard them smh

Depends! If I think I can finish a hoard easily (like my macaw dogs from yesterday) I'll just kind of laser focus on that hoard until it's done, picking up other hoard pets along the way if possible. But usually it takes me a while to complete anything, so I just trade for whatever I happen to find in people's open groups.

This is my biggest problem with my hoards too lol I have SO MANY just sitting there with no name because I can't think of one

Yeah, all the time. If I can't get enough tokens for the amount I want, and the pet turns rare+, it takes ages to find enough. Even worse if it's an OLD event pet, like from Slumber Party or something. Took me ages to get enough blue firefly PPS dogs...or Quiel'u dogs...sometimes even the more common pets prove elusive too though! Like, where did they GO?! And when I DO find one (common or otherwise) it's in a non-tradeable group or the person refuses to trade it regardless so idk...times are tough out here.
