I believe it's some sort of symbol for Brittany and they're based off of something to do with Brittany. The symbol's on their flag and it's also the symbol that was on the black horse newborn. ^-^

The foal has a very pretty coloring, i love natural colors and this one has the markings that are on wolves too, so cute.

I saw the symbol was on both the Brittany coat of arms and flag and I was curious what it was. I thought it was a windmill, but apparently I was completely wrong.
Anywho, that would be where this symbol on the horses is coming from.
