I think they mean the grey smoke markings on the sholder

Not really in my books. The Guy Fox is based on the Holiday, the other pet is a fox like kitsune. The only matching thing they have is a little flame.

and the tip of the tail being white, and the chest/under chin being lighter, and the legs and ears being black/darker, and the general red/brown coloring.

..that's because they're both forms of foxes. e.o ALL foxes have that coloring. They're not based off eachother.
