I’m honestly confused on what the fuss is about? The list has supported unfair trades for seemingly more valuable pets for years. A very rare isn’t going to be “more rare” than an OMGSR that’s lower on some list. I usually trade my lists away for literally their rarity worth and it’s been fine for years. There might be pets that are a bit more rare than ones with the same tag, but overall the list just isn’t that fair.

I think personally I’m going to value list pets just over what I paid for them because honestly, this is going to be a mess. I’m probably the only one who didn’t think about the after effects of losing the list (I voted restructure, but still) and what would happen to all the list pets’ value and the trading economy.

Oh lets be honest, those sorts of trades were received all the time, list or no list. Unless I was the only one receiving terrible trades like that over the last few years, but that's quite the conspiracy theory.

Other people have probably said what I'm about to, and probably much better than I will, but meh here goes.

There was fair trading before the list, and there will continue to be fair trading after the list. Play the game how you want, but don't expect everyone else to cater to you just because you've spent x amount of years on it. Things change, pet values change.
I've got some trades in my history that, as far as this list is concerned now, would be nightmarishly unfair. I'm not chucking a wobbly over it though.

This is really important to keep in mind, yes!
I understand that retiring the list is an intimidating idea for some. This list is so old that a majority of users active today have never played CS during a time without it. So I can see why it feels so chaotic to many of you, because oftentimes it's all you know.
But trading was possible before the list, and all those valuable pets at the top of the list weren't worthless. As a matter of fact, the reason they got to their list positions was because they were already traded highly.^^

Trading is, in a way, always a risk. It's like investing in a company's stock - you might profit, but the company also might take a hit and suddenly you've lost a ton of money. Sometimes pets you trade for rise in value, sometimes they lose it.
I have trades in my trade center where I straight traded an eat me for a vixen advent. That was actually a perfectly fine trade at the time, but nobody would do this now.
I also have trades sitting there where I traded September Lists for July rats. Those rats are now omg so rare.

You can never have a guarantee that something you invested in years ago will still have the same value now. That's just not how a market works.
The fact that these pets did "list-wise" stay in the same placements for so long is actually a bad sign because let's be real, how many pets do you see on this list that realistically never go for that placement any more?
The List didn't even do a good job at reflecting the current economy.

But also consider: When you traded for those pets, you got what you wanted, and you got it for the same kind of value that other people did at the time unless you voluntarily overpaid.
By looking back now and making yourself upset about the fact that in the future, someone else may have to pay less, or that if you ever decide to get rid of the pet and it won't fetch as much, you're dragging yourself down for things you cannot change.
And it affects all of us, so you're not alone.^^

Also, this happened in 2012 indirectly because of the rareslist. I thought because everyone said it was worth so much since it was so high, I should trade that much for it...

I got one non out of it after trading it.

I don't know if it's been said before, but what will happen to store pets that were on the list? I'm desperately trying to get a marionette and I don't want the list's discontinuation to get in the way of that. Do I trade for it like one would for a store pet? or treat it like a list pet? OR do I just have to start asking people what they want before I trade them?

I would ask people what they would like for it.
That has always worked for me.
