Discussion about the Pets, Items, Dress-ups, Events, Site, Forum or other CS features!

to: anyone, preferably longer-term staff but im all years to anyone who knows the answer!
this is gonna be SUPER long-winded so i wanna preface by saying im so sorry lol, i just think about this stuff a lot and i somehow didn't even consider that there was a forum where i could actually... ask... instead of just sitting and stewing on it for months?? dkfhgdfg
edit: tl;dr at the end!
im extremely curious as to what the process is behind celebrating events, specifically holidays. it seems like theres a few events/holidays that have a pretty set schedule for exactly (or at least generally) what to expect, how many pets and items are gonna be released, what the plans for tokens are, etc like for valentines, easter, cs b-day, summer vacation, halloween, and christmas, and we go through them pretty smoothly every year without missing a beat. which is great, its nice to have consistency! which makes me so confused as to why there's so many holidays that seem to sort of just... jump in an out of existence in the cs celebrations?
like, for example, we've only celebrated Marti Gras 3 times with a 3 year gap in between the last time (first time was in 2011 with only items, then again in 2012 with pets and items, and then again in 2015, and we haven't celebrated it since). similarly with Kwanzaa, we've only celebrated it 3 times, and while the last celebration was more recent (2018)... the time before that was 2011, nine years ago. 2018 was also only an items-only celebration, we haven't gotten new Kwanzaa pets since 2011 either. im not of African descent, but from what little i know about kwanzaa, it seems like such a beautiful celebration with tons of potential to create amazing pets and items for tons of celebrating cs players to enjoy, and it seems sad that its lacking so much in both pets and items.
however, im not an avid celebrator of either of those holidays, so im not sure how much i could elaborate on those. on the other hand... even with holidays that are at least semi-consistent, lets say... Hanukkah (celebrated 10 years out of possible 12), it feels like there's just so much missed potential, especially of crucial items relating to the holiday. In ten years, with all the amazing items we've gotten for Hanukkah celebrations, we've never once gotten kippot (aka yarmulke) or any other kind of jewish clothing that are directly connected to how a lot of us celebrate the holiday. don't get me wrong, the fluffy blankets we got last year are so cute, and i like the hoodies we've gotten over the years, but as a jewish player myself, i would love to at least have the option to dress up my pets in a kippah or a tallit or something! and it was also so nice to see latkes in 2014 and 2017 and sufganiyot in 2015, but there are so many classic staples of jewish culture and food, even things as small and simple as challah, honey, hamantaschen, apple cake, loukoumades, or other fried treats, that i think would be excellent additions to annual Hannukah cs celebrations!
especially considering there were a few years where the only item drops were a new menorah and matching menorah candles. i love every menorah on cs, don't get me wrong, im thankful to have anything at all considering the aforementioned holidays that don't have much (although those make me sad too). it just feels like there's so many more opportunities for artists to pursue tons of beautiful ideas, and thats just for items! i can only imagine what could come from brainstorming pets! i've collected every single Hannukah pet and item on cs, and i plan to continue to the best of my ability in upcoming years, no matter what people come up with!

is it just a matter of what staff is available to design pets/items during the holiday seasons, ie jewish staff or staff open to Hannukkah being available to design hannukkah pets/items, staff of African heritage being able to design kwanzaa pets/items... etc? the cs staff seems so wide and diverse, but i can understand the people who celebrate those holidays would probably be busy being with family or friends instead of doing art on cs. but have temporary volunteer artists ever been considered? im sure i can't be the only member who'd love to see what talented artists of cs could come up with to celebrate holidays that are personal to them ;__;
sorry for this whole mess, but would love to hear any ideas or feedback!!
tl;dr - what's up with the holiday celebration schedule? why are some holidays not celebrated every year, or have only been celebrated a few times? and when they are celebrated, why only drop repeats of old items, especially when potential for new items relating to the holiday is fair game and would create a wider variety for players to celebrate the holiday to collect? is it a matter of available staff or is there a bigger reason going on?

Are old threads (the old pound pet threads for example) ever deleted after they're locked or are they kept on CS forever?
The majority of threads stay on the site, but some boards (like the trade boards) regularly have inactive threads pruned because otherwise the board would grow much too bloated (what with how many users make trade threads, haha).
You can actually go all the way back to 2008 here on the CS Discussion board, so if you ever want to look up old monthly threads to check growth info or look at really old trade advice to compare pet values, you can do it if you have the necessary patience c:
Very rarely individual threads have to be deleted for various reasons, but overall, we keep them.
Here's a "Pound pets you got" thread from 2009 :) hey, there's even posts of mine in there

Thanks for answering. (^ u ^)
The people in that thread you linked are so lucky.
They got some of the most sought after pets on the website gratis. (O - O)
If only I had found out about CS a few years sooner.

Are the alicorn plushies intentionally based on pride flags? (Gay, lesbian, trans, bi)
Hey there, Peroxis!
Yes, the alicorn plushies made for Valentine's Day are intentionally based off of the pride flags you've listed! ^o^
I was inspired by my girlfriend to create them as I was initially struggling to find some item ideas; the lesbian flag based alicorn plushie was created and designed first before the other three. I had plans to include other pride flags as well, but unfortunately due to a busy schedule I wasn't able to complete them, though I look forward to creating more pride inspired designs and items in the near future ♡

To: whoever designed this pet or whoever can accurately answer the question
Is this pet based on the Angel of Death Azrael or the Seraphim?

I’ve always thought the pet was loosely based on Azrael because it has a lot of wings and those wings have eyes on them (Azrael is sometimes depicted as having thousands of wings as well as eyes and tongues whose number is the same as the number of people inhabiting the Earth), or the Seraphim because it’s covering its face (the Seraphim are said to cover their faces in the presence of God), but I’ve never been sure.
