Like I need another Hoard, but I just cannot resist. Grey Swirl Fluff Cats [Have no Idea what they are being called]! They are just Epic and I HAVE to hoard them... The fluff! The Black,White, Gray. The Swirl and those EYES!

Need to know something. I've been told by too many people what a hoard is and what a hoard isn't. I've been told that only a multiple of 1 outcome is a hoard while from another person, a certain outcome or something is also a hoard. I have a hoard group of Duck Owls, another of the Multi tailed dogs, etc., yet I'm also told that they're not a hoard. What exactly consists of a hoard?! I'm beginning to think that these people don't know just what a hoard is. >.<

I'd say its a group of pets you really like, that have something in common with each other/ same outcome. I still count my iridescent dogs (Sea glass and july '10 feather litter (not sure of name)) as a hoard, although they're 2 completely different litters.

If you have more than one and wont give it up, you are hoarding it. I do not consider one of each pet a hoard because that seems like its more a collection. Many call a group of 5 or more a hoard, but I suppose it depends on each person. Some pets I hoard one particularly outcome and then there are others that I hoard the entire litter!
Some people hoard a certain colour of pets, or tail/eye/ear types.

Thanks, Jade. I'm head over paws for my Multi Tailed Pack. My I. R. Batty hoard is also a big love for me and I get really tickled whenever someone suddenly gifts me at least 1 of them. I trade C$ for a lot of my hoard pets. The newest one is the gryphons (store gryphons don't count as they don't follow the exact pattern). I feel like I've been put through the wringer from one person to another like they're the experts on what a hoard is or isn't. >.<

Here is a more literal answer:

Q. What is a hoard?

A. A hoard is a group of pets that are consistent to each other. They can be made of one variation of pet (Example: a group of 20 Ricorn Birthday pups), or they can be made of pets with similar traits (Example: a group of dogs that have bobtails).

If you own multiple pets that share a common feature, like outcome, tail style, colour, whatever floats your boat, you can call it a hoard if you like ^^
Most people might say that a litter hoard, for example, isn't a litter hoard until you have a double of at least one outcome, but that's just to distiguish the hoard from a collection - of course you might want to get the complete litter first, or just so happen to get one of each upon starting the hoard.
I personally wouldn't call two pets a hoard already, but really, each person has different standards here.
If you hoard a hard to get pet, like a List pet, then you'll have it harder to get more, so it's just natural to be stuck with low numbers for a while.
I tend to call my hoards hoards as soon as I have 5 pets in them, as my lowest limit for minihoards is 10.

But in the end it's up to you.
If you have, say, two Griffon Staff dogs, and you say they're a hoard, then they're a hoard.
...That is, unless you don't plan on keeping them. Having multiple pets in your trade group isn't hoarding in the sense we're discussing here, so... xD

Thank you, Lord Amazilion et al...this really helps with the clarification of what consist of a hoard. I know someone said I can't consider my Advent groups as hoards (dno why), but the rest, like my I. R. Batty group, are considered hoards.
