I will have to politely disagree here. None of my hoard pets are up for trade, even for overpay. They are kept in locked groups for a reason; no one who trades with me will know they exist in the first place unless they go digging through my profile.

If I traded away a hoard pet to every collector who's missing one from their collection, then I wouldn't have a hoard. That person could just trade with someone else who has the pet UFT.

Just because someone has a hoard doesn't mean that others are entitled to their pets, for any amount of payment. That's a very greedy mindset in of itself in my opinion.

I have to agree. I recently broke it down, but I used to hoard the skelly pps. I probably had 35 or more? It's kind of disheartening to know that if I had them unlocked, I might come across trades like this. I keep all of my groups locked that I don't want to trade and like not zinnia said, I wouldn't trade them. I stand firm in the belief that there is enough pets to go around regardless of how much I hoard. There are thousands and thousands of users on CS and rereleases included, there are TONS of valuable pets. No sense in making someone not feel good about having a bunch of the same pet when that's the sacrifice they make vs someone else's assortment of different pets. It's silly.

Hoarders have to go through the same amount of effort to find that pet...

agree with these! I came back to the site semi-recently as a very casual player and was surprised by the amount of trade rules and signatures that were decrying hoarding as some kind of moral issue, lol. like my brother we're all trading pixels, it's not that deep

I reached 20 of this one! This was my very first ever hoard pet back in the day, and they used to be Very Common! I disbanded the hoard when I came back to CS after a long hiatus, but then got nostalgic about it and restarted, haha.


I reached 40 of this one! My partner didn't believe me that their names are wolpertingers, so now she calls me a wolpertinger when I'm being weird :p I made this hoard solely because of that! Plus the bunny lineart is just so cute.

not gonna lie, I've already extended it once to the 250 goal it is now - which is the highest number I've ever done - matched only by my single OG brown retro dog hoard. Most I do are single pages (20), a few 50s, a smattering of 100s (usually for multi-outcome litters ala staff pets), and only the one 250 up until now. On one hand, they seem to be drying up and I don't want to end up at like, 297/500, but on the other hand I think I'm gonna miss the hunt for them if I do the smart thing and close it at the nice 250 number. idkkkkkkk......

Most players will NEVER get a complete collection, if only for the fact that Store Pets exist. I myself literally gave up on that dream years ago and switched exclusively to hoarding; do you know HOW MANY PETS that put back into circulation?? How many pets I STILL push out because I only keep what I like and trade everything else?? I get the frustration, but no one ever seems to acknowledge these last two points.

apologies for taking out a lot of the quote, but this part here struck a chord with me. i virtually only do hoards nowadays, with the exception of some dreamies that i'm trying to cross off. i gave up the notion of a 'complete collection' years ago, and not only has that made my time at cs more enjoyable overall, but it's also more than counteracted whatever hoards i may have solely due to the fact that i don't want/am willing to trade 99% of the pets that come out, including re-releases/high values. especially considering the high-value list pets that i've auctioned off for literal omgsc's, along with the various list giveaways i've done over the years.

i'm with the others in feeling that nobody is 'entitled' to my hoard pets, regardless of the pet's value. and while i can understand and respect if somebody is frustrated or doesn't want to actively add to a hoard, i don't understand the seemingly random attacks against hoarders?? i personally don't mind and don't feel the need to block anti-hoarders, but going out of your way to harass or guilt a hoarder is ridiculous. high-value pets get added back into the site with each re-release, so there's never not going to be a chance for you to trade for a high-value pet, it might just take a bit of hunting and saving up. even with store pets, i've yet to come across a store pet that didn't have somone trading it somewhere. i also (like any other hoarder) pay fairly or overpay for my hoard pets the same as anyone else, whether it's omgsc or omgsr.

on another note, it's a little late but i wanted to give a shout-out to my hoarder's ss for helping me get my sheep hoard past 5300! (talk about a hoard that literally nobody wants/is in great excess lol) they may not be the most popular pets on the site, but they bring me great joy <3

i think its generally not ok to ask hoarders to break into one of their hoards for you whether its omgsr or omgsc yk? but if they wanna do it themselves thats super kind of them! ive actually broken up a few hoards simply to give people dreamies! but yeah i rly dont like the anti hoarding agenda esp since "anti" statements technically arent allowed on cs anymore! ppl that dont support hoarding are entitled to their opinion and ideals but they shouldnt be rude about it imo!

anyway, im almost done with this ball jointed dog hoard. i just like fell in love with this festive outcome and decided i need twenty lol!

only need two more to complete the hoard!!

doing well with my otters just like the otter hoarder a page or so back! i also hit 1k of them thanks to my hoarder ss! :3 shuper happy about that!

and finally im starting a new hoard of the three pets below! i called it ruffled feathers haha! super cute and ive been meaning to hoard em for awhile. >:3 good luck yall!

But YES, oh my gosh giving up on a complete collection was SUCH a boost to my happiness on this site. I've traded away so many valuable pets and still do every year just because I simply don't like their designs. Not to mention almost all my hoards (like many people's hoards) are limited in number, so even my higher-value ones aren't taking THAT many out of the CS "economy" so to speak.

I've honestly debated auctioning off some store cheetah sets or something for hoards...I'm just so tired and sorta lazy and it seems overwhelming to work out the logistics of such a trade.

{ as someone who's done a few valuable pet auctions for bulk hoard pets I totally recommend it, especially if you don't really plan to use said valuable pets for high-end trades. it's fun to see just how much your hoard increases, and from my experience it's also fun for the bidders who feel like they have a prime opportunity to get what they want without paying an arm and a leg and fighting the ever-worsening CS economy! I really enjoyed hosting those auctions and I'm planning to do it again, eventually, whenever I really feel up to dedicating the time to set it up. ♡

I've said it before and I'll say it again, it's absurd at best to blame hoarders for a lack of pets when we pay just as much-- usually more-- for our hoards, especially the rarer ones. you could just as easily pass the buck to all the inactive accounts holding countless old pets that CS will never redistribute-- at least for us, if we decide we're not into a hoard anymore, we'll circulate the pets back out one way or another. also I genuinely don't think hoarding has any affect on rarity. like, remember the unicorn rats from the first summer event? the white one is STILL omgsc! I couldn't even begin to tell you how many of those I have, and I'm only in the top three[?] for rat hoarders! if we influenced rarity so easily those rats should have been at least common years ago, but that's not the case. so it's silly to me for people to be so vehemently anti hoarding. I get that it's frustrating to be missing pets but we all have to fight the war of the swap threads for what we want fr. I get headaches trying sometimes. ♡
{ and to add my agreement, I'm also way happier focusing on hoarding over collecting! I still have my collections, of course, but it's only for pets I really like, and it's very casual now that my rats are done. so I can put 99% of my effort into keeping my pack rat brain happy with endless pages of digital rats I can organize and reorganize to my heart's content. I never trade my hoards, period, though occasionally I don't mind ID or even outcome swapping [the latter of which I did last October with that wild rat litter-- I kept plenty of what turned out to be rare outcomes for myself, but I helped out a lot of people and I'm still pretty happy about that c:]. it's my account, I do what makes me happy, and rats make me happy, especially now that I don't know when I'll have real ones again c": and if I get bored working on my hoards, I have several people I pick up hoard pets for too! it's fun all around. and yeah, I only keep the pets I like now, so most of what I adopt just winds up in my trade folders as well. ♡

{ in other news, a huge shoutout to my hoarder ss who absolutely blew me away with several massive additions to my hoards, especially my rats! were I not struggling to put a cap on my current hoards I'd be nearly done with most of them thanks to that gift 😭😭 I'm particularly struggling with butterfly wolves rn ?? I have a couple ongoing large hoards and I'm contemplating starting a few more, so it's been a dilemma. I also like, kind of want to do an ocean-themed hoard, but I'm not dedicated enough to go out of my way for the pets, so I'm just at an impasse with myself about it. at the same time I am indeed reorganizing my rats again so my groups are extra messy and that's not helping my problems xD the solution to all of this is of course to annoy the site for more rats! when in doubt, more for the favorite hoard, I guess ♡
{ anyway, I really love seeing y'all's hoards as always! there's so many pets I never even think twice about but you group them together and I go hey, those are super nice, how've I never noticed? ♡

Everyone has made soo many good points on anti-hoarders. One that stood out to me clearly was the fact that 'anti-' statements are no longer allowed on CS. If that's the case, why are users allowed to have "anti-hoarder" or other statements in their trade rules or trade threads? I'm not saying that people can't openly be against hoarding, since people are entitled to their opinions, however, I've run across a few trade rules that are downright nasty and aggressive towards people who do hoard..

There is a huge difference between these two user examples;

I'm not a huge fan of hoards, so please only ask for 1 of each pet or item in your trade.

I hate people who hoard pets!!! If you hoard, don't even think about trading me!! If you send me a trade for pets for your hoard, I will foe you!!!!!

Some of these 'anti-hoarders' will also accuse people out of the blue of hoarding. A few years ago, I managed to have 2 patchwork dogs. I had one in my valuable trade group and one locked in my achieved dreamie group. A user sent me a nasty message about how 'people like me' who hoard valuable pets make the game un-fun for other users. I very politely explained to them that (at that time) I did not hoard any pets above uncommons and I just-so-happened to have had an extra patchwork (WHICH WAS FOR TRADE lol). After that, I reported their message and blocked them. It was a WILD pm to receive lol.


On a lighter note, my PPS rat hoard is almost to 2100 babies! I was also going through the archive to update my wishlist and realized that there were no PPS rats released at all during 2023 :c -sadness ensues-

I've been stuck at the "I should really dissolve my collection" point for like a good year and a half now, ngl. I've already taken off any list pets on my WL I don't actually want, but half of them are still only really to use as trade fodder. It's just that I'm almost to 15,000 (14,979!) unique pet outcomes in there, and also I've been collecting every missed outcome for.... well, since September 2008. It's too ingrained in my playstyle a this point to give up *entirely* for just hoarding, ya feel? :p

Relatedly though, imo hoarding actually gets quite a lot more desirable pets circulating, especially wrt longtime players. if I only had high lists and like two missed outcomes on my wishlist, none of the 8k pets in my trade groups would be going anywhere at all. they'd just sit there forever because no one's offering a sunjewel for a 2014 staff dog (no matter how much I wish they would ;p). but because I have so many miscellaneous pets I'm collecting on my wishlist, it's a lot easier to make a fair offer when trading me that we're both interested in doing.

real question though, does anyone else do this thing where one outcome in a month is like, fun but you don't know if you want to hoard it, so you stick your duplicates in a trade group and only find out "oh wait actually I want those now" like six years later when you stumble across them again and they've already gone VUC/R+? because that's been happening a *lot* to me recently, rip... I WILL find more of those cherry pps eventually :')
