Trade Rant Thread

I don't often rant about an individual trade, however this one has tipped the scales.

A couple of days ago I received a beg trade. An offer of 4 of the super common b-wolves and a current month common outcome jade dog. In return they wanted 2 rare PPS pets, a January dog, a march wild dog, a handful of no longer available items, and 2 items you can currently get free from the shop. In their message, among other things, they state they had been wanting these pets for awhile. I checked and they had barely joined a week ago, so I rather doubt they'd been wanting any CS pet for awhile.

Just your regular, run of the mill beg trade. I ignore them mostly, because if I reply after seeing them, I usually say something rude. So I figure it's best to just bite my tongue and mass-cancel them later with the same basic 'go visit the free adoptions section' message.

However, today I received a PM. Apparently this user is stalking me. They stated that they KNEW I had been on today because I had adopted the b-day present dogs. They also said they hated being ignored and had sent their trade AWHILE ago (since when is 2 days a long time?) And they tell me when I see their PM, to go look at their trade.

First off, instant foe. Congratulations. Secondly, want me to respond to your trade? Well, you asked for it. And thirdly, I'm going to rant about you in the trade rant thread, yay for you!

Also, they keep calling themself my 'friend' which combined with the stalking is just downright creepy.

Um...okay, ya know, if I were you, I'd report this person to the mods...or admin.

If one of my trades goes unanswered for several days, I sometimes check when the person was last on CS from their profile page to see if they have seen it and just haven't answered (possibly considering the trade) or if they haven't been on and so haven't even seen it yet. Mainly I do it with people who owe me art payments and are taking their time accepting the trade - if they've been on recently and it's been a week or something, I might send them a gentle reminder that their art isn't paid for yet, but if they haven't been on there's no point in PMing them, so I just leave it and hope they get around to it eventually.

Did that person really think that berating you for 'ignoring' them and then demanding you go look at their trade was a good way to get you to accept it? I'm just surprised they didn't insist upon you accepting it as well!

Well after reading my message to them, they sent me TWO PMs back to inform me I'm rude, they weren't begging, and that I'm foed.

I'll even post my cancel message here, for all to read. I managed to be a bit nicer then I thought I would:

Considering you've been a member for only a little over a week, I hardly think you've been wanting any pet for very long.

2 of the items you've asked for you can currently get, so why you're wanting them from me, I'm not sure.

The butterfly wolves you're offering are considered highly common, where-as you've asked for 2 rare pets and 2 older now uncommon pets from me, not to mention rare items (besides the two current ones) which are no longer available.

I suggest you browse the 'Free Adoptions' section of the forums. Sending trades like this are considered beg trades and will get you put on peoples foe lists.

Also, PMing people to look at your trade is also a rather bad idea. Whether or not someone replies to your trade is really up to them. 2 days is hardly 'awhile ago'.

And finally, you didn't seem to bother reading my trade rules message at all, which are conveniently located above the box you typed your message into, as well as the 'Send the trade now' button.

Oh and apparently they were a member a 'long time ago' and were a member for a really long time, but chose to delete their account along with all of their pets. Mmm-hmm, that seems likely. But that's why they've been 'wanting those pets awhile' one of which was just from a few months ago.

Sending a couple common B-wolves in exchange for retired items, some rare pets, and some older pets is in fact, begging. And if they are indeed an 'older member' who was on for a 'long time' then that makes it even worse, because they would KNOW what they were doing. So they only dug themself a deeper hole. And they had absolutely nothing to say in defense of the not reading my trade rules.

But anyway, to sum up their PM, I was rude, rude, rude, rude, mean, they don't beg, they're foe-ing me, I'm rude, rude, they'll just trade with someone else.

One of you may be next!

If anything, not bothering to read someones trade rules, or just ignoring them is pretty rude. I always, always, read them and abide by them. I mean, if you just ignore them and blow them off, why would the person trade with you anyway?


I do that too Atwood, for art trades if it's been a week or so. In fact there's still someone way back from April who still hadn't accepted the trade, but they haven't been on in a couple months now, so I doubt they ever will.

I'm usually patient about normal trades, there are some I sent months ago still waiting. If it's a pet I really want, I'll wait as long as I have to. I go through my trades to clean them out roughly every month. If there's some old ones waiting to be accepted, I'll check to see if the person has been on, if they have I take it as a 'I don't want to trade' and simply cancel it myself.

Interesting story! It must have been annoying. I also get frustrated when people beg, however if they only joined this month, i get too sympathetic & just give them a random free pet & teach them about what's rare & what's not. I know i'v only been on since June, but i caught on pretty quickly to C.S, so i guess that explains how I already hav a Joker, Balloon Dog & Red Toxic! I don't really hav a trade 2 rant about, so sorry 4 off-topicking!

It's a newbie trade. If the person just joined a week ago or so how should they know about rarities?
Of course if the message is 'Plz accept the trade, it is fair' then you could probably call it a beg trade. But it's not necessary a beg trade.

A beg trade is if they want any pet from you and don't offer anything in return and just think you will accept. And the message is 'plz I really want that pet' or 'Can I have this pet' or in worst case 'plz, I am beggin you. Plz give me that pet' or just don't write a message. That's a beg trade, which I hate and despise!

You can't just think that a newbie know about rarities, that's simply not fair. I had no clue about rarities when I first joined so how should newbies today know about them, when there are even more rare pets now?

Agreed. That's why i said in my post here before u that i get sympathetic with newbies. I would like 2 thank gemini_girl 4 giving me HEAPS of common pets from January-April for free!

According to them they're an older member who has been around for 'awhile' and simply deleted their account and started over. If that's true then they should know very well that what they were offering was nothing.

I do consider offering a couple of pets for a bunch of other pets/items, unless the pets being offered rare, as a beg trade. 'Here take these couple and give me these 15 things, please accept, I want them' as a beg, even if others don't. Besides the fact that I already stated in my trade rules what not to offer. I even put in there that I accept offers from new members and what I'll take.

I know the difference between a new member who is giving an honest try at a trade and one that isn't. I happily edit newbie trades and give them much more when I see a new member who is actually trying to trade and not just get handouts. So yes, I believe 100% this was a beg trade and I know I'm not the only one to receive them from this person.

Obviously this is just going to boil down into an argument, so it's best to just stop it here before it gets out of hand.

I'm sick of people and thier wishy washy rules that don't add up.

Example A:
Someone is offering free pets in the adoptables section. In the thread they say choose two. In thier trade message they say, choose up to 3. I ask for 3.

Four days later, they cancel screaming abouse at me "I SAID NO MORE THAN 2! "

I send the trade back with two and a message attached explaining the fact that thier messages are two different ones. How was I supposed to know which one you took a higher liking to?

The trade was just canceled and they kept the pets. Excuse me?! If you're going to set up a "free pets" section, how is it legal that you're being selective on who you trade with? Thanks a lot. It's not like I was being rude to them like they were. Thier trade message still says three, so no telling how many people this person has screamed at for no reason.

Example B:
Someone is offering pets for trade, but they don't mention that they don't look at the thread and only respond to the PMs that were sent regarding a trade. Here I've been waiting for weeks hoping they would respond to the thead I posted in. Instead all the pets were gone with just the response "Pms answered" Okay, thanks. That would have been nice to know at the beginning considering I was the first poster below the OP.
