I think they're just Chinese-themed in general.

The red one could be the red envelopes, although they appear a bit darker than any envelopes I've been given or seen.

All three chicks are so cute, can't wait till they grow up! I'm so excited for the red one the most! Too bad I missed the blue one, it's so pretty. :c

red is also a color that symbolizes luck and fortune in China, we traditionally wear some red on CNY. maybe that's why?

I kinda doubt they will, sadly. The only time we got cats that turned into lions was on April Fools last year, I think. And it's not April Fools day yet.
