I am totally seeing that now. The pony I thought looked like a betta is looking a lot more like a marine iguana to me now!

Edit: and the rainbow dash one could be a Sally light foot crab!

And the white one with the dark blue mane could be a whale shark!

Congrats, you've solved the mystery XD.

I absolutely LOVE tortoise beetles, they are mindblowingly fascinating insects with so.damn.much.pattern.variety it's unbelievable. Right now you can't really identify most of the foals because they will look a lot different once they are fully grown, though. You'll have to wait and see ^^.

I absolutely would have never guessed beetles. They are gorgeous though! I can't wait to see what surprises we get when they grow.

Some of these are a bit of a stretch, but this is what
I'm thinking the ponies are based off of (assuming the
litter as a whole is "Galápagos Islands wildlife"-themed).



Going from left to right, starting on the upper left:
Yellow-crowned Night Heron, Whale Shark, Marine Iguana, Sally
Lightfoot Crab, Galápagos Flat-bellied Lizard, and the Eastern Red Bat.

Regarding how I didn't mention the other two (grown) ponies in
the litter: I did so because, frankly, I have no idea about them.

Edit: I just realized that Lillian confirmed they're tortoise beetles, nevermind XP.
