In '09, the Easter celebrations on CS started on the 12th of April {Or at least that's when my oldest bunny was adopted}.
Last year in '10, Easter celebrations started on the 3rd of April.
As you can see, there is no exact date. I would just assume that it will start in a couple days. I'm sure Tess wanted to give us a bit of time to get all the 3rd anniversary pets and items settled before throwing an Easter hunt at us =3

I checked here and it seems pretty accurate; The Easter Egg Hunt started on Easter Sunday or the day before. c; So I assume it will start the 23rd or 24th this year.

Well...thank you so much for that comment. I scrolled up to luck and I screamed. Thank heavens I'm the only one home. And it doesn't help I'm listening to Simple Plan right now...

yes, the Easter hunt moves each year because the date of Easter moves each year

this year Easter is very late in April (24th), so would you guys prefer to start hunting a little before Easter Sunday so that we can finish by the end of April, or wait to start on Easter and continue hunting into the beginning of May? I'm thinking we'll start a little early, so that the hunt doesn't lose all relevance by the end

Early would make more sense, though then there isn't anything special in May. We've had St. Patrick's day in March, Valentine's Day in February, and CNY in January. We've already had special B-day pets this month already, so it might seem good to have special pets and what not in part of May just so we don't have a giant lapse between holidays unless there is some obscure celebration I don't know about...
