I could ramble all day about CS history but I think it's important I get to the good stuff. To celebrate our birthday we've got gifts, a special pound release, and best of all we are unrolling a new feature today - huge collaborative dress-up scenes!

Could I get an in-depth CS history lesson? xD
I like to browse through the News posts and the announcements board but I don't think it's quite enough.

What has been your favorite summer event?
Favorite pets/items from the event? Favorite 'mini games' (trading in tokens to help the pets)

Mines the Atlantis one last year. I loved the racing hamsters on the squids and mantarays. The best item had to be the backgrounds and such we got. And I loved helping the purple squid palace guard find his sandwich XD especially when he was like: oops I ate it earlier.

Last year's event was one of my favs too. I loved the squid guard and his crazy mood swings.

That was prob my fav mini game too cos we hadn't had an animated game before and the racers and prizes were all really cute they're my fav pets/items from that event. Especially cos I love sea creatures like squids and rays <3

my other fav summer events would be the slumber party which I think was a pretty original plot, and the space event which had awesome pets. I didn't expect to like the space event cos I'm not usually interested in space stuff but I think it turned out really cool. Avian and Totoro get to take some pretty epic vacations.

I stubbornly sit on the outskirts of the fandom, despite my sister's best efforts, lol. I enjoy RWBY, RVB, and Lazar Team (if we want to count that as at least a production of theirs), I'm just kinda... behind on everything. ^^;; I need to watch the last volume of RWBY and season of RVB, and I haven't yet seen LT2.

What's a big fear you have that you ride off as small?
EX: I have a fear of snakes, I will look at them and lecture people about them, but have a mental conniption every time i see one, I will talk about them, but I won't go anywhere near them.

The exact date is indeed kept a secret, but courtesy of ZEL we have the previous dates and the knowledge that they usually start on Fridays or Saturdays!:

What were the event start dates of the past? I saw it posted earlier but I don't want to browse through 1000 post with the words "July event dates". Its just to give me an idea when it starts.

There is no set date for the event to start each year, and users aren't told the exact date beforehand, though the news site may post a reminder that it will start soon.
Last year we had these fun announcements pop up one by one on the day before the event:

The past summer event dates were as follows:
2011: July 18 - August 6
2012: July 14 - July 24
2013: July 23 - August 6
2014: July 25 - August 15
2015: July 25 - August 9
2016: July 15 - July 30

With the exception of 2011 and 2013, all of the starting days were Fridays and Saturdays.

And then last year was the 22nd, a Saturday

To anyone: what is something you have accomplished recently that you are proud of? :o

I will be competing on a team for the National Poetry Slam this August! I feel like I worked really hard all year to write strong poetry, and I've completed self-publishing my second poetry collection in the last few days as well. I'm quite proud of my poetry accomplishments right now. (:

do you have any like really really really distant connections to celebrities? like my friend's mom went to high school with bob marley's son (she said he was mean)

One of my father's childhood friends was the bass player for Peter Frampton's band, so the first concert I ever went to was actually the VIP treatment at a Peter Frampton concert.

What's a big fear you have that you ride off as small?

I spent a very large portion of my life being afraid of driving. Now, as an adult, I've finally learned to drive and usually have no problems with the fear anymore, which leads me to discount how petrified I was in the past. However, all those years were definitely real and impacted my life significantly.
