I have beaten the theme hoard record! I hoard purple pets (my computer is broken so I can't include a link right now, sorry) but I have over 900 purple pets. The link to the group is in my signature in the Odd banner.

I'm thinking this hoard is ineligible, but I'd rather ask first.

What says the community on this ruling for 'theme'?
-Should there be a guideline of more than 50% of body must be themed for it to count?
-Do accessories count?
-Pets with any of this color on their body no matter how little. Does that count?

Here are my feelings on the matter: Pets should have more than 50% of their body for it to count. Otherwise it's just another 'dog hoard' and not a real challenge.


This pet has no purple in the pet at all, just the accessories. The pet is grey.


This pet is blue with a bit of purple in it.


This pet is not purple at all. It is very clearly pink.

I'm also unsure whether or not these two count:

as these pets are mostly white/grey with highlights of purple. However, if they were discounted, the purple toxics and the unicorns would have to go as well. These are my feelings on it, but at the same time the irony is not lost on me that a purple toxic would be ineligible to be in a purple hoard, but there are better pets to represent this color without question.
I would like to hear ideas on how this should be graded.

Agreed to that. I do see the irony, but... logically speaking, the toxics are black. They're just more known for the color that makes them different, not for the fact that they ARE... the color that makes them unique (make sense... kind of?).

I didn't look at all of the pets, but I think most of those in there are definitely purple enough.I think if the purple colour is something thats very notable on the pet, it does count. For example that last dog you listed, firestar. It's more white/gray than purple, but to me it belongs into the hoard, because the purple wing-marking is the eyecatcher here. Same with the purple toxic. The toxic litter dogs are named after their colour -the first thing besides the markings that you'll notice when looking at them- , so why shouldn't the Purple Tox be in the hoard?
I would say that, if the colour purple is of such "importance" for the pet's design, it should count for the hoard.
Of course we'd have to make a few rules here to draw the line between notable and unnotable. I'm not an expert for such things, but well, I have much time today, so I felt like posting my thoughts here.

If the hoard does count -congratulations, Odd, and weeh, seems like it's going to be a greater challenge to get the theme record than I first thought *looks at her own, only 200 pets strong cake hoard*
...But I won't give up =P
