hey, i was just wondering about the credibility of just a single poll deciding the value of an item. for all we know, it could be some new users or people who have no idea of item values voting on the polls.

in addition, the bandwagon effect could be at play here, where if an option has the most votes, others will follow, even if they don't have a clue of the actual worth. for example, let's say we have a poll about the green garland, and we have options from 1 non to 15 nons. if 1 non has the most votes already, a lot of users that don't know much about items will just choose 1 non as well just because it is the leading option.

i think it'd be better to make people post here about their reasons why they chose a particular option, because it can decrease the amount of uneducated and troll votes by a significant amount, and people can't just choose random options because of anonymity. In addition, i think taking 5 days for a single poll won't be very efficient, given that there's hundreds of valuable items, and that'll simply just take too long.

I'm trying to keep this less time consuming if possible but I do like the explaining your vote Idea as well

I understand your time being valuable, but the thing is, with something like items there needs to be time put into a list like this, something that's rushed with minimal effort couldn't thrive, and would likely not be accurate. Please consider that as you consider the idea of this list, and the real amount of dedication and work a CS rarity list really requires, from discussion, to research, everything.

I think it would be good to have people discuss their reasons regardless, but ik from the site suggestions board that people like to have polls [so I think that would keep the thread actively voting, if that makes sense].}

i'm not sure if you're talking about specifically this thread right here or in general, but in this thread, you could simply click "view results," and it'll show you the results of the poll without needing to vote beforehand.

As for the guide in general, I truly believe we don’t need another “high value item” guide. What CS desperately needs is a guide explaining which items through the years were tokens, and which items were bought with tokens. These items are much rarer than free items, and I know that I and many people value them at rare level. And it is surprisingly really hard to find that information without scouring the event archive threads individually which is a humongous pain.

This is a 2019 Easter item that could only be obtained through a mystery box with Easter egg trade-ins. I had a SUPER hard time trading for this one because nobody had it. I 100% value this item at a 2019 rare, but if you weren’t there for the event there is no way you’d know that this item is rare just by going through the archives. You’d have to go all the way back to the Easter 2019 discussion thread or event archive to find out it was even a token item. A guide explaining all token items like this would be much more useful than a re-skin of gay’s guide that will inevitably end up mimicking it heavily if we all end up voting on each item.

I'm actually making a guide on how items were released! I saw this and started making one. I currently have the first post in my drafts, so that way it can help the community by how it was released.

It won't be a trading guide, just a thread that explains which items are token items, token-trade-ins, free releases, etc... And be using old threads from events as sources.

I'll be posting the first post shortly after I flesh out the introduction a little more. After that, I'll be looking for anyone who wants to help archiving.
