30k rares for your 1 rare (REWRITTEN)

I don't trade across years, but I thought people were going for 1 rare added per year (if trading rares). I never thought anyone would ever use the old system that was mentioned.

I have been using C$ prices to calculate rares for bulk recent commons and under. I'm currently looking for bulk recent rares but I have a lot of the "undesired" pets from the 2010-2011 unfortunately.

Sadly, alot of people have no idea what method to use, and just kinda throw things together, and say as long as its over its fine. Or, i see people trying really hard to make it fair and adding a bunch of 2:1 math together to make something work at least decently. Ive never personally seen anyone doing +1 between years, only ever +2, but it does go to show that the old methods are basically non-existant, and people are trying to find new ones.

Yeah that really old method of exponentially adding pets is something that was suggested, but I don't think anyone actually followed. A +2 a year is still understandable, but I really like having a range of dates, something like the first example you gave. When I was trading for the camping event caterpillar, I was trading rares one year after and one year before. This gives more leeway for people to trade a rare back through the years rather than the "3 month rule" . I feel this can work for any rarity under rare as well, though I personally don't care what dates an OMGSC has.

im definetly more of a casual player when it comes to high rarity trades, but this is basically what i do! i remember someone suggesting this method (or a similar one) last year when i initially got back into cs and have been following it since. in my head when trading rares+ it goes something like "its x2 but 2:1 but not really but add a few this is confusing but makes sense" but 2:1+2 makes a lot of sense

This is the exact point i was trying to make when saying alot of people already know/use this method! Alot of users have a similar thought process to this one here "its x2 but 2:1 but not really but add a few this is confusing but makes sense". This is something i have seen many users make statements similar to. My thread is just the summed up actual explanation of the method we are all using, and laying it out so everyone can understand and use it as well! That's why i made the post, so those of us who do use it, can help others understand it so they can use it as well! Thank you so much for sharing your experience! Xx

For clarity - i would like to note that this is doable with ANY year, and ANY normal rare+!

Say you want 2024 rares for your 2016 rare?

1 2016 rares = 2 2017 rares = 4 2018 rares = 6 2019 rares = 8 2020 rares = 10 2021 rares = 12 2022 rares = 14 2023 rares = 16 2024 rares

Basically take any year you want - and go up 2 rares per year after that. so 1 2016 = 16 2024 rares, because its 2x 8 years as its an 8 year difference!

So say you want to turn a 2021 rare into 2024's?

1 2021 = 2 2022 = 4 2023 = 6 2024

2x3, since it's a 3 year difference! You don't count the starting year, just the others! and you'll always come out to the right amount!

Added this in under the main and wanted to pop it here so others note it - it's a great help for going between years to do it this way aswell!

Eyy nice on the visual example! I think it comes across very clearly either way. It's also just in general a Lot simpler to understand and work with.

this is really helpful since trading with horror's guide can be a little confusing especially for newer players (like me) or returning CS players as the numbers get unrealistically larger as the year gap is bigger!! thanks for making this, i hope it gets more popular and that people start using this system!
