Spread the word to end the word, because discrimination based on perceived or actual IQ/"intelligence" is no better than discrimination based on race, gender, etc.

Context, consistency, and clear antecedents are golden.
I neither read nor speak between the lines. But I will analyze your language.

If we're talking about CS history, then I think Anthrocon 2012 is significant enough to mention!

There used to be a section on the forums dedicated to the visit to Anthrocon. Everything has been deleted now, I searched for my old posts but couldn't find it :( They had a topic asking what CS pet people wanted as a plush. I'm pretty sure Avian was the most popular option, but the Sunback was the 2nd most popular. There were some people (like me) who preferred having an actual CS pet as a plush rather than a mascot, which is why I think they went with the Sunback.

The plush was never officially released, but they did release a plushie Sunback as a CS pet later on. I don't remember what year it's from so I can't find it in the archive, but I'm pretty sure it was a nod to the real-life plushie that never came into existence.

They had a booth at Anthrocon with a lot of the CS staff present - I think this was really the only time you could meet all of them in person. Both Tess and Nick were there, I got to meet them and take a picture with them. There was lots of merch including a mug with Avian and Totoro on it, magnets, pins, keychains, stickers, and charms. CS AC had merch that the online CS store didn't have. I also got a flyer that advertised the site (probably for people who didn't know what CS was). Since the Sunback plush wasn't ready, you could write your username in a book and they were supposed to give you a discount when the plush was actually released.

The site staff posted photos on an official thread in the Anthrocon section of the forums. If you gave permission in person for your photo to be posted, I think they even mentioned people's usernames? I'm assuming that these photos are a reason why the entire AC section were deleted - the staff was definitely bending the rules there.

this was a super interesting read and a great write up -- i can't wait to read whatever else you end up adding!!

having been on CS for well over a decade now, reading through all of this was honestly so nostalgic. i remember initially planning on attending anthrocon and actually going as far as booking a hotel for it, but then it ended up falling through in the end. i'm still super upset about it and regret not going!! i also remember the cake competition so well; my friend and i at the time would spend hours scrolling through and looking at everyone's entries.

it was also a huge throwback seeing all of the old linearts that have since been changed! i remember well when that happened but for the life of me, i could never remember what the old linearts actually looked like. thanks so much for taking the time to write this up gravy!!

That’s super cool you almost went to Anthrocon! I tried to find some more info about it but it seems that it’s scarce on Cs lol!
Just wondering, were you on CS when the sunback plushie was stated to be released at anthrocon? And did you participate in the cake event👀

It makes me so happy I can bring some nostalgia to older members, and bring some new info to some of the newer players. Cs history is super interesting to me and I’ve been looking to add more stuff since I’ve created this thread!

i was, yeah! half of the reason i wanted to go to anthrocon in the first place was to get some of the merch that was being released there and of course to meet people i had seen around the site. i wasn't really big in the community back then but i really looked up to the site's staff and tiny me was very excited about the prospect of possibly meeting them lol. since i ended up not going, i just ended up staying home and obsessively refreshing the then anthrocon forum topic to see updates and pictures that were being released. despite not going, it was still super cool to see people posting about it in real time and it was overall a really exciting time in the site's history.

i also unfortunately did not take place in the cake comp because i had absolutely 0 knowledge about baking back then and i was too scared to ask my mom for help. i wish i did but at the same time, it's probably best that i didn't since no one in my household really eats cake so it probably would have went to waste!

i'm going to try and think of some other events that i may have experienced here on CS but if i'm being honest, a lot of them seemed to have happened during my numerous hiatuses from the site. i might reach out to my bff weeper though because she's been consistently more active than me over the years and may remember something golden that i have since forgotten :p

^ Literally me! I wanted to go to Anthrocon so badly but I didn't want to go alone or drag my mom along and I was kind of embarrassed to meet the staff, so I ended up not going and regretting it - though maybe it's better that no one got to meet cringelord Sea, haha. I also didn't want to ask my mom to help me bake a cake for an online game, even though she knew about CS 😬

I so wish that I was on CS when the anthrocon event took place! I wouldn’t have went, as I would have been considerably younger but it would have been super interesting to read through the Anthrocon threads (I believe they’ve now been deleted?)

I’ve looked through the cake contest entires & winners and some of them look so delicious and adorable! I would have loved to make a CS cake as I love baking! It’s super interesting to see all the people who submitted a cake and the different ideas everyone had for it
