I definitely feel the spark fade sometimes, but I disagree with the notion that people are often rude. I've actually noticed that compared to several other sites, people are very friendly and patient here (sometimes a bit passive aggressive, but I get it) I have been playing this game for 2 (maybe 3? I lost count) years and very few people have been rude to me. However, I do agree that long winded trading rules are ridiculous, like it doesn't need to be a novel, it can just be a short list, because nobody wants to read a textbook to be able to trade with you.

There have only been three monthly adopt releases of a lion litter, 2014, 2012, 2010 (+some lion pps hiding in cat litters) and Malk is no longer a site artist so I don't think we'll be seeing any monthly adopts of either any time soon unfortunately.

This is correct. Malk lines are retired and are only used for special events, like the 10th anniversary litter. Lions aren't usually released as monthly pets but are instead saved for events, so this is why you don't see these pets as often. ^^

I also have to say that the CS community outside of the site itself (the multitude of discord servers for example) can also play a big influence on how you view this place if youre not careful. I've noticed that some people on these servers can behave like straight up sour lemons about nearly everything. x_x

On the actual site itself however i havent really run into too many issues other than the typical newbie mistakes ive made. x)

I will agree with others though that there are a heckton of people on this site that are the absolute sweetest, and i believe we owe it to ourselves to try not to let a few bad apples spoil the whole bushel, as the saying goes. <3 We have to remember that its just pixels, not life or death. I can personally say that ive definitely made some of the best friends on here. ^^

I havent had much experience with the community itself, mainly because I shared this account with an older sister growing up and Ive only really started using it now, but I can definitely agree that things are a lot different. in my opinion it's moreso a shift of what the average kid playing the game is like other than the actual game itself being different, obnoxious behavior seems just to be more tolerated in recent years and thats just something we have to accept. Dont get me wrong theres still some nice people around, you just have to look for them

I just came back to this site after 9 years and was greeted with insanely unfair trades that I didn't know any better and accepted. Now that I've gotten invested into CS again it hurts looking back at those trades and I find it really unfortunate that people try to take advantage of those who are new and not as knowledgable. BUT I've also seen so many amazing people who have gifted me and been very sweet.
I do agree it's hard because people will value their pets really high while not taking into account other peoples perspectives and feelings, writing rude comments or passive-aggressive cancels. Many people are so quick to accept a trade that's an overpay to them but as soon as it's a slight underpay I get a mean cancel response when I genuinely was trying to make a fair trade or didn't know better. Either way, I've come across more nice members than mean on CS which makes me grateful for this site and community.

Skye Selkie wrote:Yes, ever since the list was discontinued it feels like there is so much greed in how people are highly valuing their own pets but not other people's. It makes trading such a pain and honestly sometimes I'm scared to send/receive/accept high value trades because everything has changed so much.

We could see a little bit of that before the list was discontinued (i.e raven dog, shima etc.) but now a patchwork that never had demand (until people started realising all old storepets are 'more valuable') is worth 1.5 nons??

While I am half glad the list is gone (I think it should have never been in place ever), because it was such an integral guide so many people used as the gospel, we definitely need something in place of it because now I feel someone is going to try and rip me off and I'd have no idea.

There also just seems to be a general lack of respect for other users as well. I don't know how to explain it but I had several people send me trades that broke my trade rules so I canceled only for a couple them to message me back and call /me/ rude.

It's honestly disappointing because before my hiatus CS was such a fun site then I took 4 years (XoX) away and now I'm back because I have all this free time but I'm not enjoying it as much as I thought I would. I was so excited to come back to it.

I noticed the same thing after my hiatus, store pets have increased in demand way more than they should have. There are plenty of spare store pets, especially through the years of 2010-2012 in circulation, and people treat them like they’re the rarest thing on the site-even if they still have the “very rare” tag. It has slightly been over a year since the list discontinued, but the value of some pets have skyrocketed. I have to admit, before I took a long break I traded a UR Ice Cat for a Skelebun, and I remember people saying that was unfair to me because it “didn’t trade well” and now they’re the most “expensive” pet on the site. I was shocked at first when I came back in December and like everything has changed  I just remembered all the times back a few years ago where people turned down Skelebuns a lot.
Anyways, even the C$ amounts are pretty wild, and it clearly states on the old list and the C$ Pet Worth threads that value goes up slowly, but it’s out of proportion now for some (it’s a major concern for me mainly because it deals with real money). It makes sense because of demand that pets have got more challenging to get especially since there’s no guide, but it is hard to trade up at times. It’s not impossible, just a challenge.

I’m just glad that there are kind people on here that have helped me out and others. Accounts that dedicate their pets for a pound are amazing and they help me stay here because of their generosity

The Malk lines got retired, with only very few special releases afterwards, see Tess' post here:

FangirlGoddess wrote:I only joined a few months ago but that's one of the reasons trading scares me because I'm afraid to decline a trade and get called smth nasty and I'm also afraid to accept trades without extensively consulting the fair trade thread after someone traded me a vr and a rare from 2019 for a dec 18 sunjewel. I didn't even really understand the importance of December 18 and certainly didn't know how much a sunjewel was worth and I'm so disappointed that someone actually took advantage of my inexperience w/cs like that,,, I'm glad the site used to be a kinder place. If only I had joined then, maybe my experience wouldn't have been so stressful.

I'm so sorry that you have to feel that way, I'm personally scared of sending trades out now because people want so much and it's so hard to trade for non dog pets. Because my collecting has pretty much went to a stop other than the few odd gifts or the odd pound pet I started hoarding, and even sending out trades for cats or stuff like that is so difficult as people expect recent uncommon for 2 2014 OMG so commons. It's just so difficult now.

The patchwork dog is as rare if not rarer than the the raven dog because it was adopted less. It took the raven dog a year to become very rare. I'm glad the list is gone since it make it easier to trade pets based on rarity and not what my neighbor thinks is pretty and should be worth more because of that.

As for the discussion on the community, I'm not sure what exactly is meant by it. I guess since I never talked to anyone I never saw any changes. I feel much better about CS than I have with any other adoptable sites I've joined. I don't have to put in much time or effort to get the daily adopts, I don't have to take care of them, and they don't die. Things like dragoncave were such a hassle. If you forget for even a few days something could die or even grow up and be untradeable. I am honestly glad for this site since I just like to collect things. It's stress free, worry free, and costs nothing. As far as people being disingenuous or rude, I can only think of enough to count on maybe two hands. That is unless you count the people who don't respond to PMs. I'd rather someone be upset in a PM then outright ignore it. People can have a discussion and I've done so before. If I can figure out the issue between the disagreement then all the better. If I can't and the person is just being rude for no reason, then I can blacklist and move on. I do still leave my PMs open though. I have a lot of free time at work so I check the site often and even though I might overlook something or forget I do answer any PMs I see.
