Let me rephrase/explain: I meant it works well for actual completed trades, not that it is 100% accurate.
But that is what's being done and both parties are okay with the values on each side. And that is why it works - when there is not a huge difference between the pets (both age AND rarity), the people are more likely to just "wing" it and be a little less strict about 100% fairness.
Not so much when there's a huge age difference and this exponential growth shown on the chart.
