I heard about this on chemistry classes. I tried to do this at home but the iodine which you can have is mixed with other substances and it didn't work... You need to have the pure one which is used in labs :(

When you pour iodine on baby powder, it tuns yellow. Let it sit for a while or add water, it turns...black.
We did that in my science class. Not sure whether or not to call it chemistry because the material is 3 grades above our current and we're all passing with flying colors. :lol:

It also works with baking powder, baking soda, and flour.

:D Maybe I'll try...
The method I posted is used to check if there's a starch, so it should work with potatoes and bread as well. If only I had the pure iodine :( .

Btw, my dream is to be a Brainiac :lol:
