It's not that there's less of them, it's that there's more accounts being created and more of recent months' pets having been adopted because of this, the rarity of past months' pets goes up.

It's not a 'rereleased' cat, it was just available for a long, loooong time. (Btw, your cat isn't even a 'true-date.' They where released in July 08, your cat is from November 08..)
