      hello 大家好我是中国的四分之一
      (damn google translate..)
i am quarter chinese, but i only know a little bit of mandarin because despite my mom's efforts to teach me, i never felt like i needed it.

i might be visiting china with my mom sometime next year, so instead of embarrassing myself over there i think i'm going to start learning as much mandarin as possible. i don't live with my mom, so it's kind of hard trying to get her to teach me regularly.
can someone teach me how to say "i'm quarter chinese"?
and, what sort of basic things do you guys suppose i'll need to know when i visit china?
      sorry for the trouble!

p.s. heeeelp meeeeee mandarin is so difficult
hell is empty. all the devils are here.

你好!
There are several ways you could say "I'm a quarter Chinese", but one way you could say it would be something like 我有四分之一的華裔血統
Disclaimer: My chinese is in no way perfect
I see that you use simplified Chinese. I use traditional Chinese (I live in Hong Kong, we mostly use traditional here), so might want to google translate that (don't worry, content stays the same, just changes how the characters look) into simplified.

It depends where you're visiting. I've never been to mainland China myself. Whilst Hong Kong is a part of China, it's under "one country two systems" as they call it, so things are a tad different here compared to there.

I totally feel you about the language thing. I think I'm around a quarter (probably even less than a quarter to be honest!) Thai, can't speak Thai to save my life!

Mark! Also, it is one of the most amazing places. So great and homely, ugh. In pictures they depict it as either extremely American or newyorkish or 'polluted' but it isn't all like that. It's just.... Like.... Home sweet home! I've been there twice, actually. C:

您好!(Google Translate ahaha)
I'm 100% Chinese and yet I cannot write/speak Mandarin Chinese. I can speak Cantonese, since my family is from the Guangdong province so I'd just like some help with learning the basics of how to write it. I mean, of course it's going to be hard since I've never learned Mandarin and most of the time Google Translate uses Mandarin. As a child, I've kinda been enthusiastic to learn since I thought it was a really cool concept, but over the years I've kinda stopped practicing and the extent of my Chinese writing is the numbers from 1-10 (and even I don't remember all of it), my Chinese name, and 'up' and 'down'. I could really use some help on reviewing and learning some basic things. Thank you!

edit; I've actually been to Hong Kong 3 times and my family and I are planning to go a 4th time soon, as my mom is from Hong Kong. I've been to the mainland the 2nd time I went. Just wanted to share that xD

I'm 100% that on blood, and 100% North America by birth.

I gotta get Chinese in my language settings one sec.
