Sorry, didn't want to sound snobby - it's just that some of them are funny little things (like "Du bist auf dem Holzweg!" - "You're on the wood-way!") and some are just downright wrong and use wrong words by deliberance to make the English word-by-word-translation even more gibberish. Which I think is rather sad, as the thing itself it really funny! I would love to hear all the English counterparts!

"Ich glaube, ich spinne." = "I think I spider."

Erm, no, that translates word-for-word to "I believe I spin" (or "I believe I am spinning.") Sounds pretty normal, actually. It's very hard to mistake a verb for a noun in written German, but somehow they managed it.

Next week I'll probably offer a 1:1 or to up to three people class via Skype (because of pronunciation) I'd prefer Student of higher levels, but anything is fine. If you'd like to join or have a theme suggestion, shoot me a pm.

german words with two different meanings:

"Kappes"- means cabbage or something silly.
"Schrank"- means wardrobe, but you can also say "Der Kerl ist ein Schrank.", what describes him as very tall and broad-shouldered.
"Horst"- is a name, describes an eagle's nest and is a slang for "moron" where i come from.

of course, his are only a very few examples :)
