Your sentence in parenthesis doesn't make sense. しかし isn't exactly like "but". Also, the rest of your sentence makes it sound like you are the language, not that you speak it.

I've been learning japanese the passed year in a class at school, but now I take an online course for over the summer called Mango Libraries it's good. I'm not on my ipod now, so I can't type in hiragana or katakana, (And I haven't got a clue about most kanji!) so I'll just type
