if we saw a kangaroo where i live, that would be the strangest thing to ever happen.

to be honest, people who dont live in australia think of every - well, most at least - australian stereotypically. i've never heard loads of those 'stereotypical' australian words be used. im not trying to be rude here ^^
i've seen a kangaroo, koala and emu once in my entire life when i was young [at a zoo], and no, we do not ride them.
i actually read this article he other day that was trying to stop people was visiting australia. their defence was that we had too many strange, deadly creatures and that 'you will die'. i... i dont even know how people can stand that. yes, deadly creatures live here - lots of them - but most of them live in areas where no humans live, for example forests. i, personally, have never seen a giant spider in my life. or a giant snake.
unless you're planning on living in the wild, i doubt you'll come in contact with a deadly creature.

      sorry, that was just my little rant. ^^;

100 % support!
I live down in VIC and have only ever seen kangaroos on camping trips. There are actually quite a lot out in the bush! I got lost in the bush with my teammate when we were separated from our group, we saw two gigantic kangas there, then on our family caravan park camp thing there were heaps! They ran through the campsite at dawn and dusk, but during the day they were outside the basketball court. We were able to run them into the park and make everyone scared out of their willies! >:) Living in the suburbs, you don't see them too much but you see the occasional squashed koala or wombat on the highway.

Yes, we have Box Jellyfish, Great Whites, Bull Sharks, Sydney Funnel Webs, Red Backs, Inland Tapians, Crocs, Tassie Devils and so on! But you only are lucky to see one (unless common where you live), and they are rarely hostile unless you throw a fit and go crazy. Even then, we have antidotes for most of the venoms. If you're so scared of Australia, there's a very good documentary on National Geographic about our dangerous animals, how they kill, how you come across one, how rare they are and why you should or shouldn't be afraid of them! I recommend watching it, although I forgot the titlw It's pretty rare to come across an Inland Taipian unless your far out in the outback!

“The inland taipan is unbelievably elusive,” he says. The remote location is one reason there have been no recorded deaths by this species, even though one bite contains enough venom to kill several humans.

Don't be scared of the Sydney Funnel Webs!

“As a fluke, we are particularly sensitive to funnel-web venom and thus bites are particularly devastating to humans,” say Bryan. However, there hasn’t been a death since the development of an anti-venom in 1981.

Honestly, if I were you, I'd be more scared of bees!

❤ I am from Victoria. I haven't seen a live kangaroo but I know someone who has. I've come across perhaps 2 or 3 on the side of the road while driving past which were unfortunately not alive. Poor things! :(
Snakes, never seen one either.
I've only seen spiders... Not super big, furry ones maybe 3 times in my lifetime and then a few of those tiny brown ones and daddy Long legs from time to time. Also, ants are annoying. ❤

Kangaroos really aren't common where I live! Rabbits are more common, to be honest. I also come across the saddest thing... I saw a dead fox on the side of the road, two dead baby foxes on the other side </3

    Happy au day everyone c:
On topic of what wildlife we see
I am in VIC and I see kangaroos and foxes often!
I had a few baby foxes living under my house a month or so ago, found out they're practically harmless so I use to pet them (they were so cute and fluffy!)
I also have a holiday hiuse in the other side if Victoria and I only really see rabbitts, echidnas snakes and lizards there xD

Aw, foxes are very shy timid animals, so trying to get close to one is really hard. The babies were obviously easier to get close to because they're just kits <33

Also does anyone live in Melbourne ? The weather here is crazy! One day it's hot the next day it's pouring.. This city is very seasonal all year round and does not know how to to stick to its seasons xD
