That's fine! The site needs to have your first post on the forums approved before you have full messaging abilities to make sure you aren't a spambot trying to spread adverts around the site.
Now that your post has been approved, you will be able to see a white box at the bottom of the page when trading - use that to type a message to your trading partner!

So in trades it says once I post on the forums I can send messages to trade partners... but I have posted multiple times and still cannot send messages? Could someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

You are not doing anything wrong. Your first post just needs to be approved by a moderator before you can send messages. You should be able to send messages now since your posts have been approved.
