We need your feedback on an update to the rarity system!

sorry if i'm spamming this thread a little bit!! i made a slight edit to them, i felt very common was a bit too bright and rare a bit too harsh, so i edited them a very tiny bit! in this one rare is a more similar color to the current rare rarity bar, instead of being so similar to the current very rare bar and so harsh!

I really love this! and I love how they incorporate both the colors, names, and star suggestions!! my only concern is that the "custom" pet rarities are currently rainbow (i think, unless they've been changed since i last checked?) so they would need a new color/category (maybe black or white?? idk)

This is kind of random but not so common is my favorite suggestion I’ve heard so far

i edited it to have only 1 star on each one! i didn't originally save them with the bar intact so it might look a bit odd if you look close, i had to edit them to get them to match correctly and stuff lol
i also changed the first and last rarities to the omg ones instead, since i saw simon mention that they didn't plan on changing them!

i like this option a lot! its much less cluttered & more straightforward

Best layout idea so far. I still think "not so common" is weird and "uncommon < very uncommon < super uncommon" would work better

Personally, I used Ibispaint and used the Digital Pen/pixel brush to make the unknown rarity mockup. It's a free phone drawing app.
There are also plenty of computer sites and apps for image editing that don't require money, heck, you could probably use ChickenPaint to make one.

I may be remembering wrong, but I think someone mentioned they used Asperite. Though it's a paid pixel art program (unless you pirate it).

To be completely honest, I think this design is basically just like the current design except now with more tiers and a bunch of stars being cut in half. I feel like without the context of a five star system the half stars don’t make much sense.

The star system was originally suggested as a better way to distinguish between the rarities for people who might have colour blindness or other sight difficulties.
So if the look of the rarity bar is going to change I don’t think I’d personally like it to be this minor

Hmmm, the stars in the mockup above are placed at different levels of the bar... How would it look if they were all at same position for each "tier"? (possibly unbalanced) I think it might be easier to tell at a glance which category it is. Maybe we could also incorporate the different shapes as well:

OMGSC = circle
VC = square
C = star
(all on the left of the bar)

less common = circle
UC = square
VUC = star
(all in the middle)

Repeat pattern for rare categories, all on the right? And maybe OMGSR could have something different.

It might be too much but I can't do a mockup so I'm just sharing my thoughts

ETA: just wanna add that I personally like Pyromaniacal's mockup the best and the question marks for unknown rarities that were suggested. They're the most readable for me.
