i, like some others, also agree that we should be able to change our votes given new perspective, & that said votes should be locked only in the 24 hours period before the final count. while it's already clear which point is going to win no matter how many more votes are tallied, that is the point of a discussion, isn't it? to gain new perspective through conversation?
on that note, since it's clear which point is going to be victorious, why even keep the voting open? we know there are going to be four new rarities, that much is a guarantee at this point. it's pointless to keep the voting open until the 21st since no amount of votes can change the results. better to start thinking about how to implement the changes now than extend the waiting period! people are halting trades in lieu of this big change just in case a pet's rarity changes!
also figured i'd chime in on a really old point: i don't like the term 'super' or 'super duper' to describe anything. they sound very childish & immature. we can find something else that is whimsical but not in a negative way!
i can see all sides that are cropping up in this thread. i understand why some people are frustrated with the current situation, why some are anxious about the change, & why some view the site as a sinking ship. what i think everyone needs to understand that everyone deals with change differently — some people might embrace it readily, some might be afraid of it, & some might actively resist it. whether or not these responses are right is not for one person to say! everyone in this thread is human, & we should all be treated as such. there's no need to come down on others for being anxious or angry or upset — we're entitled to our emotions until they start being detrimental to others. treat others how you yourself would like to be treated, please! ♥

i agree with "super" and "super duper" being too silly and childish. One of the reasons I keep coming back to this game is because I DONT feel childish for playing. It feels like this game has grown alongside me, rather than feeling as though I've outgrown it.
EDITED to add-
Part of me feels safe with the current rarities, but it's okay to remind yourself that change isn't always a bad thing. It might be uncomfortable and weird at first, but in the end, I think that the new rarities will help a lot.

Just popping in to say that if they changed it to the vote in the last 24 hours stays and is permanent, they’d have to redo the entire poll and none of the current votes would count

( not formatting because i’m at work but—— ) you phrased it beautifully! cs has grown & changed with me & that’s why i feel so comfortable here & continue to spend time here! thank you for finding the right words to explain this feeling. 🩷

i don’t think you’re understanding what i said, but on looking back at it i didn’t word it the greatest lol. let me try again! i mean it like this: 62% of the votes are for four more categories & a lot of users on previous pages are expressing anxiety about the poll. why not lock further voting 24 hours before the end & just end it now? no amount of votes given can change the results, so it would save some people some anxiety & give the coders more time to implement the change! all the votes that have been cast will still count, i’m just talking about closing the window early!

You have no idea how happy I am to see this topic.
Without reading anything but the first post here, I absolutely think the whole rarity system needs a revision. There was a project a while back to figure out the rarities of every pet by literally counting them one by one (not sure how far that project got since I'm not up-to-date with that topic). For the longest time, CS members have had to determine the exact scale of what makes a pet rare or not without much input from the people who actually have access to the numbers. That's why the Rares List was so essential to trading - it was an attempt to figure out the system without really knowing how rare a pet was.
Trading would become SO much easier if we actually knew what the different tiers of rarities were besides "rare" and "very rare." It never hurts to have more clarity on the actual rarity of a pet.
I'm very much hoping that the general gist of this topic is that people want more tiers. Like...this is a dream come true that it's actually being considered.

I joined CS over 10 years ago and am not as active as I once was. I started as a student who had lots of time to work on trading-- now I work full time and chase around 2 young kids and don't have time to research the few trades I do, let alone know what's in demand. I would love to have new rarities added. I know some other people said it before, but I think it's just access to more information so that we can make more knowledgeable decisions when we're trading.
Trade advice threads will still be around for people to give opinions on fair trades. Value won't necessarily change with rarities added, only our access to information about how common or rare it actually is.

While I do agree that super-duper is childish, this is technically a kids site so it wouldn't be too out of place? But the problem is over time, the overall age of the userbase has gone up as people have grown up while playing. Since this is the case, I personally think
some other things on site should reflect that as well, but that's a different discussion for a different thread.
As for the stuff about the poll you mentioned, I understand why you want to close the poll, but it wouldn't really say if open or closed like you said. But I do agree with letting people change votes! [Honestly when creating polls on my threads, I forget to tick the box so it's completely understandable if nick forgot it lol. I'm unsure how often he is online, but I'm sure if you mention it to staff they can send the message upwards so he can see it!]
