Just one last thing from me:

The one problem with the lineart change: the rares list. It's based partially on demand, right? And any horses on there will spike (for those users who dislike the old lines) in demand (or drop, like the roadkill PPS. It just won't work quite right on the new lines), thus throwing the list out of whack. I could be wrong and it might have no effect, especially since there are few horses on the list. But it would be either good or bad for demand, and that could cause problems.

Other than that and the fact I prefer the old horse second stage lines to the new ones, I think it would be a good idea.

Considering that the update pretty much all these mentioned linearts it seems, I would personally have to say no to the idea.

It's not that I don't like the idea or the Yulynh lineart or anything like that necessarily, but one of the very great and unique things about CS is its linearts, and despite what might have transpired with regards to old equimagine outlines, there is still a nice variety and difference with the old linearts kept intact.

There is good reason to make the update due to the items and such, but there's some really nice history, and although a good number of people like the Yulynh linearts the most, it is still really nice to have the old equi linearts for horses and ponies. There's simply just nice CS history to go along with it, and it would practically be lost completely with an update of this caliber.

If this update goes through and affects all equis on the site, I wouldn't mind all that much, but for the sake of the older players and those who have joined up until now (who have had the opportunity to experience these old linearts and grown to appreciate and like them [and I do believe a very large number of still people appreciate or like this variety in linearts and "types" of horses]), I would still recommend keeping them.

A lot of people are commenting and saying yes to specific things like "Oh I like the ponies" or "Oh I like the drafts specifically". It's important to keep in mind this would be a more global change than that. While individual likings are important, CS is a community after all, and I believe it's important to make a decision that is better for the community as a whole.

One of the biggest things to consider is what would be gained or lost with regards to the pets themselves. I think this is a big key to think about. With the equine transformations, there would be so-to-speak "new" horses that I'm sure a good number of people would like (or at least maybe like more than some current horses or designs). It's always nice to add something new people would like. My issue is that doing so would also be negative in the sense of removing a lot of memories and nostalgia, among other things for players who have joined up until now, especially for older players, whom I believe should be given at least some level of respect among things like this. With the change, there would be some gains, but also a lot of losses, whereas with no change, nobody would lose anything necessarily.

Those are simply my two cents. Of course there's thousands of people who can provide input, but just some things to consider and think about I'd suppose.

I like the new designs but...

I overpayed for my buckskin PPS because of its design. I don't like the pony line art, or even the PPS pony line art.
(sorry artists ;_; )
Image is this the kind of line art that the buckskin is going to be turned into?

arcticwolf wrote:The old equine lines have a nostalgic and vintage feel to them that will be lost if they're replaced with the more recent lines. We've had so many equines released since the new linearts came about that if someone doesn't like the old lines, they can still have a huge collection without collecting the old linearts.

I can see why members who joined after the new linearts were in use would be for upgrading the old lines, but as a 2008 member, I really don't want this to be done. The lines were retired long ago, and personally, I think that's enough.

The new draft horse lineart is stunning, I must say. It definitely is tempting to vote for a change because of it, which brings me to this question: If it is decided that the old linearts will not be changed, will the new draft lineart be used in future releases?

I as here when Equi was still doing lines, and I just prefer the new ones and think they look better then the old, and with the controversy I think it would be safer. I just like Yulyhn's better, but I understand how you feel.

Honestly, I don't like the new linearts though they have been used for a while. the only one I like is the Draft. I love these old linearts especially the pony because to me the new ones look like a miniature pony rather than a normal pony. I also realize this will affect the rares list, and we will have to update that system again. Please just leave them as they are.

Seems I'm in a minority here.
But I don't want this to take effect, purely because I think that it would just be taking away all that work which equimagine did for the site. I believe that they are special in their own right, and just binning off the old lineart completely would just seem a little bit...I don't know, disrespectful?

It would be like taking the old sitting cats and then poofing them into the new lineart, which again would not be a brilliant decision in my eyes, because it wouldn't show that appreciation to the person/people (I don't know who made the sitting cats, I think Lawliet?) who designed said pets.

I do think that the new draft lineart is cute, and should be implemented if someone wants to design one - not to change the work of someone else.

    But that's just my opinion.

Perhaps if it weren't too much trouble there could be an option in your account settings that could let us choose whether to see the older horses in their original linearts or the new ones once they have been converted?

I love the new versions. I am torn about the draft lines though... I LOVE the old lines, but the new ones are amazing too...
*Torn*

It would be. And the Roadkill PPS would become this one. Which wouldn't work out very well.. it doesn't look run over.
