Big Rarity Update - read for details!

i was just wondering if this change has had more consideration into a pets demand? or is it still by numbers? such as for the past few events macaws have had huge demand. are they more likely to be rare? or less, since everyone is adopting them?

It's all based on numbers and not demand. The macaws would be less likely to be rare because lots of people adopted a ton of them since they were new and had crazy demand when they came out.

I suppose that with any big change like this, there will always be a knee-jerk reaction of sorts within a portion of the community. I think we personally all need to give the update a chance. I can almost guarantee you that once all the dust settles, it will be business as usual here on CS again. Sure there may have been an extra degree of challenge added in, but as nickjr said: with any game things would get boring really quick if things like this weren't done every so often. c:

I'm confused- I'm not seeing a difference on my end? The post made me think the slider bars would be different but they seem the same as always. Was it just behind the scenes number shuffling this time?

The rarities are more evenly distributed now. Whereas before there was only 5 or 6 OMGSC, there's now 50+ maybe even more. The bars themselves didn't change, just the rarity of each pet. More OMGSC and Common, less Uncommon+. In your "Needs Sorting Collection" folder, on the very first page, I can see the rarity changed on almost all the pets on that page.

There's really no accurate way for them to create a system that works with demand as well UNLESS there was a on-website trading system which tracks how many people are requesting what pets. While I think a website based trading system would be far superior to the absolutely horrible forum based mess, I dont think that's going to happen anytime soon if ever.

But I think it's a good idea to make the rarity of each pet clearer. Will just take some getting used to.

One thing worth pointing out in addition to what Lacuna said about the more common pets is that at the end of the day, some of us will always be happy to take multiples of them off your hand at once.
I frequently trade people older pets for quantity of newer, less valuable pets because I hoard them. Not everyone only needs one copy of a pet - some of us are looking to trade for hundreds c: As of right now I'm literally looking to trade for a whopping 1903 very common pets, haha.
Honestly, personally I prefer trading off one older pet for a bunch of recent commons much more than having to decimate all my current trade fodder which I do sometimes need to swap for missed outcomes.
Trading off common pets isn't impossible if you know to look for people who may be especially interested in them. (Not even just single outcomes - species hoarders have your back and are often happy to add as many pets as possible to their hoards, which means that commons and below are ideal for that.)

Seems like the update, while making rarities easier to detect, benefits only the old pets: old rares are even rarer than they were before and nearly all the latest pets are commons/omg so common.
This may make trading system even more difficult than it was before. I’m glad I traded for the warrior cat collection before the update because now there wouldn’t be any chance to get them: people will go crazy over demand because the rarity increased.
While I can be happy because now my Ur lion is omg so rare, all my trading group was downgraded to common/omg so common and I don’t think this is very balanced.
Maybe someone likes to trade a rare for bulk omg so common/common but the value of the rare is increased and the values of the commons are decreased so you will need more commons/omg so common to make the trade fair.
Okay, commons are not worthless but they will take years to become uncommons. Now that there are many omg so commons/very commons it will take ages.
This is only my opinion and I respect all of the other users, I just wanted to say something and express my point of view.

I was wondering, which are the ratio numbers for each rarity now? 1 in how many players for each section?


Also, I'm happy with the update. Before this it seemed like a pet was uncommon/rare only in it's year. Like a 2018 uncommon wasn't the same thing as a 2014 uncommon. Now is better. This should wipe off the concept of 'years matter' because some people went as far as considering a 2018 rare the same value as a 2014 common or a 2012 very common because of 'thei're closer to the border' I always said this is nonsense. Like how could you ever believe a 2014c is close to becoming rare??
With that large 'border' being erased maybe we'll be finally able to trade a common for another common of any year, because the numbers don't lie. Even if the pet has been around for 10 years, there are still as many pets/player as for that 2018 one.
