Hey guys, let's just remember Chicken Smoothie's own rules on Art Theft and Tracing:
Using photo references for your artwork: If you heavily reference your artwork from a photograph then please give credit by posting a link to the original image. The reference information should be clearly visible above or below your image.
Copying/Tracing/Modifying/Claiming ownership of other peoples art/lineart: If you copy, trace, or edit someone else's art (without their permission) this is considered a form of art theft.
Don't pretend to have made art which was actually made by another artist.
Don't trace or freehand copy another person's art, unless you have their permission.
Don't modify or edit another person's art unless you have their permission.
While the foal lines were traced
line for line, it's pretty obvious the adult lines are
heavily referenced, which would require a)permission (which was not sought) or b)credit (which was not given).
The new
foal lines were also
traced, the
horseshoe was traced, the
new shetland lines were traced off her old lines,
as were the new horse lines, so really it's a no-win situation for ANY of the lines. I'd love to be able to show the picture that has the horse lines (which includes the rainbow mane) matched up perfectly with the original photograph, because all Equi did was turn the photo a little and reference it at an angle.
If we want anyone to actually follow the rules of Chicken Smoothie, we should start following the rules when it comes to these lines. As much as they might be liked, we HAVE to replace these lines. It's sad, and I'm sure they will be missed, but the rules are very clear about this kind of thing. If this were any other instance of tracing- any other member who had been accused- the art would be deleted in a day and the member warned. So lets prove we treat everyone the same and replace the lines with something NOT stolen or traced.
