Lets say for example i have multiple ideas for how i want to do wings. Am i allowed to 'cut' or 'copy' that section a few times so i could do multiple wings, or am i only allowed to make one of each item (one hair piece, one wing set, etc) ?
Hello there!
I am not a staff, but I would like to say they seem to be accepting of people sending in multiple templates as the other examples, So I would imagine you could just do that - multiple times, to show off all the wings you might want to do. [ And then also all the other stuff.]

The actual pet linearts are roughly the same size as these, so you will want to use a program that lets you adjust the brush size to be able to draw detailed designs even on a small canvas.
If you're on a desktop, I would suggest downloading Photoshop, FireAlpaca, or Gimp. I'm not familiar with mobile options, but ibisPaint has been mentioned several times in this thread and may be worth a try if you can only draw on mobile.

I'm used to working on large canvases and I'm finding it somewhat difficult to do my usual quality of lineart on the small resolution canvas of the application file. I was just wondering if I'd have the same difficulty doing it on the final artworks in case I'm approved and such.
I know how you feel about the small canvas. I work on a large canvas as well so working small took a few tries. My suggestion is to use the most basic brushes your program has, even if they're not the ones you normally use. I only use the basic Photoshop brushes for laying out blocks of color but they make it a lot easier to be precise for a smaller canvas. I had to zoom in 200-300% to be able to see, but once I got used to it things went a lot quicker.

For example, use a more realistic/detailed style in some designs and more colorful/cartoony style in some designs (different litters of course)
This is up to you. ^^
All of the CS pets are quite different considering there have been a lot of artists by now working on them.

Question. If you become an artist, and you did a minor edit (say the eyes or nose), are you allowed to use it a bunch of times or even every time? Or is there a line edit limit? I ask cause it could be a sort of trademark feature for the artist. Like always adding whiskers to dogs, or extended claws to a lion.

Artists can use their edits again for new pets if they'd like to. Many artists have used their staff dog linearts again (
there are many examples here).
