What date did you register as a CS member?:

I registered March 3rd, 2010. Such luck, huh?

How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying): (if it's less than 300, do not apply)

I have posted 1,512 by the time this is up.

Most of it is in General Discussion, User-made adoptables, CS Suggestions & Problems, and Introductions. Roleplaying isn't my type of thing, really. I like talking! :3

How many days a week do you usually visit CS?

Usually 6 or 7 days a week, but it might go to 4 or 5 days once school starts.

How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit?

Usually around 2 - 5 hours in school, but slightly more hours when on break or in the summer.

Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position?

I've asked my family about this and here's a small list:

1. Organization - It's true. I love organizing and being very precise. I will try and edit everything if it doesn't look right. I am a perfectionist, I must say.

2. Spanish - I speak a bit! I took Spanish class every Thursday for 2-3 years, so I know some Spanish. I'm not saying I will definitely assist all Spanish members, but I can help a bit.

3. Vocabulary - My family said that I have good vocab for my age, and I know how to explain things without getting the other member mixed up. I can also make the solution to a problem sound simple and easy to understand.

4. Oekaki - I don't make much art, but that is because I hate doing 5 minute drawings. I know some about the tools & options, since I have a very similar program. I'm not an expert but I can probably help most players with it.

Why do you want to be a General Helper?

Because ever since I've joined CS I've looked up to the staff members. I've smiled when I saw a person thank them, see their drawings, and just see how hard they work to make other people happy.

CS has modeled me, and I felt like I need to give back for letting the community and staff help me through everything, and be so welcoming and kind unlike some other forums.

Thanks for applications, Tess. I freaked out when I saw this and thought it was a dream!

Small question - While Toki is a GH already, I was wondering if I ( Bel ) could apply to be a GH?

Not sure how it would work for merged accounts ^^;

What date did you register as a CS member?:
December 14, 2010

How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying):
6967 (I have not role-played avidly in my time on CS, most posts are all around the forum.)

How many days a week do you usually visit CS?
Usually every day. I am not sure how busy I will be this coming school year though.

How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit?
4-6 hours, depending on how busy I am. On some days though, I may only get about 2 hours in based on when other family members need to use the computer that I do.

Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position:
I know how all of the tools on Oekaki work, I use them often. I can explain how layers work, and also upload hopefully helpful images of Oekaki if any users need a visual aid. I trade quite often too, and I know a lot about how fair a trade is. I know how to use the forum very well, and I can easily explain how to upload images and other things that have to do with the forum that are asked a lot. I know the CS archive extremely well, and I can answer most questions about CS pets.

Why do you want to be a General Helper?
I absolutely love helping users, and I think that if I was a General Helper, it may encourage my to be even more helpful. I try to be as kind as I can when answering questions, and I like to think of myself as a nice person. ^^" I absolutely love ChickenSmoothie, I could not imagine leaving this site any time soon. I remember the days well when I was newer, and I was shocked at how helpful the General Helpers, and even the random users who welcomed me. I can't explain how much that meant to me, and I remember that I always got so excited when I saw that special username color, I always felt like I was being welcomed by someone as special as Tess. I would love to make new users feel that way too. I was so lucky to be not scammed when I was newer, mostly because I didn't post and put myself out in the forums, so nobody really knew I was here for a long time. Unfortunately, I see a lot of newer users getting scammed without even knowing it because of false advice, or just not knowing that they could get advice. I am hoping to help newer users understand rarities before their is a chance that they could get in trouble with older users.

I believe that in most cases, applications will be judged based on their current Join Date. :)

Postby gigithepug » Wed Aug 15, 2012 7:59 am

Thank you for this great opportunity in helping others out. And I wish all the applicants good luck.

1. What date did you register as a CS member?
On Sunday February 20th, 2011 at 11:17 pm

2. How many posts have you made in the forum?
921 Posts

3. How many days a week do you usually visit CS?
All seven days of the week. I usually have nothing planned to do during the week, besides school, so I just sign on to Chicken Smoothie and view forums, in search for anything really. So, for the amount of time I have, if I was chosen, I would be going through the Introductions, CS Suggestions and Problems and any other forums where I might find a user in need of help. Sometimes, not all the time, my parents' friends' and family might throw a party or such and I would have to go. Sometimes the parties only last five hours or so.

Please do not think I am a no-life, because I actually do have a life and I'm not a creepy stalker who watches CS twenty-four seven. I mean, for my age, there really is nothing for me to do but be a lazy bum who watches T.V. and plays on the computer.

4. How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit?
Well, since all I have to do is school, which has yet to start, I just go to my computer and sign on to CS. From there I don't leave the computer till it's time to go to sleep, nine through ten pm, that and dinner, which I only spend thirty minutes to eat. But when school starts, I will be on three through ten o'clock pm, which, if I'm not mistaken, is roughly seven hours. Sometimes, as mentioned above, my parents' friends' and family might throw a party or such and I would have to go. Sometimes the parties only last five hours or so. Oh, and on Fridays, late in the afternoon I would go with my mother to the supermarket to buy groceries.

Other than that, the only thing I would be wasting my time with is T.V.

5. Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position?
A. Do you speak any other languages?
English really is my only language. Lately I have been trying to learn Spanish but all I've learned is a few words, maybe twenty through thirty words. My family knows Spanish, and my grandma is the only one who doesn't know English. So when she speaks like only twenty percent of the time will I understand her. At my school, I'm trying out for French, but I have yet to know if it will be one of my classes.

B. Do you consider yourself a trade-value expert?
Well, I do know a lot about trading, if it is fair or not, etc. But I wouldn't consider myself a Trade Expert. I have received a lot of trades, most not being accepted due to them not being fair or they're asking for a rare pet of mine which I do not wish to trade, which I put that pet in my 'Not for Trade' group. But, yes I would say I know a few things about trading.

C. Do you already answer a lot of questions in the forum?
A lot, not really. A few, yes I have. I wouldn't say I help all the users who need help, but maybe I have helped a few, has much as three or two, in the past that I might have forgotten. But, the latest I remember was in late June, I helped a user about Private Messages. But I do want to try more to help those in need of help on CS, even if they ask the same question a million times.

In real life, I do find myself helping quite a few people. During last year of school my teacher always assigned me to students who needed help in their assignments, such as in math, which I'm quite an expert in, or language arts, etc, etc. One student, which they weren't the only one in my class, didn't really liked to work but I pushed them to do it and I helped them all the way. That student had high intelligence and potential, but just didn't like doing work, by the end of the year I got the student to not even ask help from anyone and finish within ten to fifteen minutes.

D. Do you know how all the tools/options in the oekaki work?
I have colored a few editables made by the talented artists here in CS, but I have not made a piece of my own art because I suck at it. So I would say I am pretty familiar with the Oekaki tools and options.

6. Why do you want to be a General Helper?
Well, I have quite a few reasons, that I will mention by order.

1. In real life, last year in school my teacher always assigned me to students who needed help in their assignments, such as in math, language arts, etc, etc. One student, that I was so proud of, didn't like doing their work, which was quite hard for me to handle because they would always refuse to cooperate with me and do their work. But, that didn't stop me. So, I pushed them to do it and I helped them along the way. By the end of the year I got the student to not even ask help from anyone and finish within ten to fifteen minutes.

Just by me helping that student and a few others encouraged me to help others with simple or complex questions, or anything they need help in. And after I helped them, their 'Thank you-s' always inspired me to help anyone.

2. Well, since I've been a member for about a whole year, I would already know most of the things here. I have some knowledge in trading and in Oekaki, not as much as an expert but enough to help out in. I have read all the rules of the site, so in case someone breaks the rules or has a question on some I will explain the rule they don't know about. And if a question pops up that I don't know how to answer I'll send the PM to the help system.

3. Since I'm one of the 'Nice, friendly ones' I would be a good General Helper with anyone really. Weather if they have a bad attitude or if I explain to them the same question over and over again, and if I get annoyed, I would just pause for a few seconds and just cool off and go right back to helping them, but that would rarely happen as I am not ticked off easily.

4. Since I spent most of my time on CS, I could always be looking out for users in need of help. I would be able to answer all PMs, even if there is over twenty and I could also go to the help system for any unanswered questions. Visiting the Introduction forums, and any help-related forums, would defiantly be on my CS 'To-Do List'.

1. What date did you register as a CS member?: (if it's less than 8 months ago, do not apply)
I became a member of this site on November 19 in 2008.

2. How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying): (if it's less than 300, do not apply)
As of right now, I have made 600 forum posts.

3. How many days a week do you usually visit CS?
I am on CS everyday of the week during the summer. For me school will be starting next Monday and my time will be reduced from seven days to probably five days.

4. How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit?
I am on about six to seven hours a day during the summer. When school starts I will be on about one to two hours a day during the week and probably back to the six to seven hours during the weekend days.

5. Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position (this is not required) (for example do you speak any other languages, or have you had any experience in peer mediation? Do you consider yourself a trade-value expert? Do you already answer a lot of questions in the forum? Do you know how all the tools/options in the oekaki work?)
As a CS member, I know most values when it comes to CS trading but CS item values and mass trades/auctions are not my strong suit. Also, as a CS member I know a lot about the forums themselves since I tend to stalk the forums more so than post in them. As for a helper in general I believe that I can explain directions or answer questions thoroughly and clearly whenever someone is confused or trying to figure the site out. I am also a patient person in my opinion and do not jump at the first chance to attack a new player just for the fact that they do not completely understand what is going on with the site.

6. Why do you want to be a General Helper?
I would like to be a General Helper because I want to be more involved with the CS community. As of right now I only answer the occasional question here and there when I catch them in the forums or when the random player shoots me a message, I'd enjoy being one of the players that others rely on for a little push in the right direction. I enjoy helping others, it's something that I pride myself with being good at and being able to help on one of the websites that I visit the most and have been a player on for such a long time would make everything that much more surreal. Settling problems or giving advice/directions comes naturally to me but I just haven't had the chance to fully connect with the CS society in this way and by being a General Helper would be the perfect opportunity for me.

Thank you for allowing me to apply. Just being able to do and having a chance to be a General Helper excites me! :3

APPLICATION

What date did you register as a CS member?:

I registered Monday Febuary 01, 2010 at 7:52 PM

How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying):

I currently have 3,448 and with more still to come. ^^

How many days a week do you usually visit CS?:

I usually visit CS everyday that I can, making it about 4-6 days on average, but time may be reduced due to school.

How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit?:

I've spent almost a whole day on CS more than a few times. I usually try to be on at least 2 to 3 hours a day though, but time may be reduced due to school.

Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position ?:(this is not required)

Well, I'm not quite sure if this will help or not, but I am a Black belt in Karate, which can teach you self control and other valuable things. I used to look after smaller children at several different church's, and I really loved it. I have also taken several years of Spanish, but I can only understand simple Spanish. I don't really think I would consider myself an expert, but I know my rarities well enough that I can usually make a fair trade to both myself and others, despite the year, rarity, and pet. And if I don't know something, I usually have it checked at The "Understanding Rarities" Guide, the "Is this a fair trade?" thread, or the "Rarities List". I follow the rules and know how to do things on the site like making links and pictures show up at different sizes on a forum(that was made in Oekaki), etc, though I don't know everything. I usually try to answer questions for people as best as I can in the CS Problems and Suggestions Forum, mostly because I love helping people! I know most of the tools and options in the Oekaki, but I'm still learning myself, and trying to get better so I can fully understand how it works. But even if I don't know, I can always ask others. But besides that, I'm usually a very kind person who loves to make sure everything is okay for others. I'm there for others when something goes wrong, so I'm also very understanding.

Why do you want to be a General Helper?
Well, like I said before, I love helping people who need help. ^^ I would love to be able to have the privledge of helping other CS members, while still being able to be a normal member of the site. I know I may not be perfect, but I strive to do as best as I can, and I hope I can do that here. I'm always glad that I can help someone who needs it, and I peronally don't mind answering the same things over and over again. I've also been good about helping people on the site who need it, and I wouldn't mind Pm's from people who need help. In can devote as much time as I can to helping CS and it's members. There were a lot of things I didn't understand about the site at first, and there are a few things I'm still figuring out. I was always afraid of posting about my problems because I thought other people would think I was dumb. I don't want other people to feel that way, and because of that, I can understand a PM for help. I want members to feel like thay can come to the General Helpers, which is why I'm glad they're here. Many of them helped me when I needed their help, and I can't thank them enough for it. There are a lot of things to learn here at CS, and I hope that I might be able to help others learn, even if it means I have to learn along with them. There are a lot of people applying for this position, I know that. Many people want the chance to help others, and I hope they will. Though I may not get the position, I'll be happy that there are more Helpers to help the members of CS. Well, I think that's all... Good luck to all of you!

What date did you register as a CS member?: January 29th, 2011

How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying): 1542- I spend most of my time on Chicken Smoothie browsing through forums and helping out through PM when any user is stuck, though I also post quite avidly on a few particular threads.

How many days a week do you usually visit CS? Usually I am on seven days a week, however I do have very busy summers, and only have access to a computer around three times a week during this time.

How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit? A very minimum would be two hours. An average time would be around four to six hours, while the most time I've ever spent focusing completely on CS was about eight. All of my time spent on CS is on a computer, and so I am always able to code my posts and help others with their coding as well.

Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position: I do have a great knowledge of Oekaki, and while I am not the most skilled artist and so do not use it as regularly as some players, will be completely willing and able to answer any question regarding the Oekaki. I believe that I have now posted at least once in every board, aside from Editable Oekaki and Intermediate Oekaki. However I do have plenty of art currently saved (not posted) under these two categories, and hope to post them all someday. I know of every tool and it's uses, and every board and what to post there.

English is my main language. I do know how to speak/write/type very light Spanish (I can understand nearly every word spoken to me), and hope to be fluent in a few years time (as I am not taking Spanish classes this year). I'm also a master at Google Translate, though I doubt this will help me in most situations. : -) I also have plans to study German... still not quite sure how I will do this, however, as I know of no lessons available to me at the moment.

I do have a basic knowledge of rariries, though I must admit my visits to threads such as 'Is This a Fair Trade?' are usually to ask, not answer. Now that the rarities have been updated and everyone's learning again, I consider now to be a perfect time to catch up on my rarities. I have been browsing trade-type threads for ages, clicking around and getting an idea of the new system.

While I am not particularly active in the Introductions or Suggestions and Problems boards, I plan to be spending a whole lot of time thre from now on- regardless of whether or not I "get the job".

I know a decent bit of BB code, and though I won't be coding this application in any way, I'd be more than happy to answer any questions about it. (I've always centered and changed the font size of my posts, and I plan to do something more original with my posts soon.)

I have a high vocabulary, and always strive to say things in a way that others will understand, even if English is not their primary language. I was recently staying with a Spanish girl who had gone to an English-speaking country in order to improve her skills in the language. Though it wasn't planned, I became a kind of translator, from explaining what she wanted to order at resturants to teaching her simple things- such as 'shiny' means nearly the same as 'sparkly', and 'cards' and 'cares' are two seperate words. It was very interesting to watch her expand her own vocabulary as she spent more and more time in the country.

And above all, I am patient and understanding. My friends (and even those who I consider more as acquaintances) have always come to me after the occasional argument, and I have not yet failed to bring everyone to some resolution. I realize that as a General Helper my responsibilities will not always be to sort out fights, though I believe the skills I have gained from this (such as problem solving) will come in helpful.

Why do you want to be a General Helper? Well, I really do love helping out. While I haven't done as much of it as I should have on CS, I always volunteer an answer to a question in real life, regardless of whether I was the one asked the question. I love to see "clueless" newbies turn into responsible members of the site, and helping them along the way is far more rewarding.

But of course, I could always help without becoming a GH. Why I really want to become a GH? One one reason, really: the colored name. It's always been relatively easy to pick out a GH because of the colored name. This way members would come to me for help, and it would be far easier to answer their questions.

Thank you very much for the chance. Good luck to everyone applying, and to the future General Helpers. I'm sure you guys will do a fantastic job. : -)
