We as a community pride ourselves on artistic integrity. It's time we got all of the lineart in line with that philosophy. If somebody isn't on board with making honest artwork, they aren't a good fit for this community and I sincerely hope they go ahead and leave.
*snip*
I agree. Art theft shouldn't be tolerated. The people who want the old designs just don't seem to care that someone else's photos were used
without permission.
Guys.. I feel your passion.. this is obviously a very strong nerve. And by all means plead your case.. respectively.
The point that is lost here is that just because someone votes no... it does NOT mean they are FOR art theft. It means they see things differently. Many think that is was already handled when Equie changed her lineart.. some think that Tess is handling it and would not give us the choice if it was still in question... Most of who I have dealt with are simply saying that they are basing their vote solely on what was asked in the poll.... What do you think of the lineart regarding uniformity and items???
Please stop assuming that all the NOs are for Art Theft because that is not true. I can tell your are very passionate about the issue but please try to understand and be respectful.
I personally would like to hear Tess's take on all of this.. the lineart, the art theft, the future of CS.
@Harpy/vodka. I brought this back to the front because I have been told that I "said you/they were wrong" and now I am told I mentioned "nostalgia".. neither of which is true. I was just trying to tell the other side of the story. It appears that many seem to think and vote for NO is voting yes to art theft which is false. My intent was just to tell the other side.. and try to do it respectively.
That is all. If you don't agree or understand or even care.. that is fine. Let's move forward.
Please do not badger me or belittle me for it.

My intent is not to badger or belittle... I'd appreciate if you would help me understand how the people whoa are voting no and are aware of the artistic integrity issue aren't ultimately saying their aesthetic choice is worth more than CS's artistic integrity having a fully clean bill of health. If that's all right.
Shian, sadly it seems that the mods are loathe to talk about this directly. When the thread was first started any hints of this were being deleted outright. I think the artistic integrity issues are still the most compelling reason to vote yes, which is why I mention them so stridently and so often. c:

mostly it's this harpalyce one side of cs wants the line arts to stay the same and since the art was unintentionally traced people who do not wish to keep think that by saying no it's promoting art theft which isn't the case however the ones who support the change are ones saying we should change and they think that it gives them right to badger other people and tell they are art theft supporters which isn't the case. it is also a case of very bad wording most people are unintentionally badgering others.
just because you say no or yes that doesn't mean your an art theft supporter. however if you do try and put words in the mouths of other people you can't speak for, such as the people who took the photos that were unintentionally traced. then that is another matter and it is common knowledge and sense that speaking for someone you do not know is wrong and often times leads to arguments. We can not predict the future either. Another thing is just because you feel you would react that way that doesn't mean that the person your quote speaking for will as well. Reactions are always different among other people and you can not predict how one will act based on your own actions.

The unicorns and donkeys would be receiving new lines as well.
As for the "animals looking towards you" art, I'm assuming you mean the second wave of lines made by Equi? Those would be changed, too, as seen on the front page examples.

Harpalyce wrote:Honestly, I'm having real trouble seeing how a 'no' isn't a vote FOR art theft.
At the very least people who vote no think that it's more important to keep old lineart they happen to like than to do anything about lineart we know to be non-kosher.
If you're sincerely okay with this theft, lack of proper respect for reference, and/or absence of artistic integrity, well, feel free to vote 'no', but it's what you're voting for. And please don't be surprised when people question why you are putting the status quo above CS's dedication to artistic integrity.
You really shouldn't be assuming rude and hurtful things like that. I have already stated why I voted no in detail, and I'm far too lazy to go searching back through pages and pages when my phone takes forever to load just one page, but the summary is
because I wasn't asked to vote for the change because of the art theft. Of course I believe it's wrong to steal someone else's work and post it as your own. (I have no idea if artists on here get paid or not, so I don't know if equi did it for profit or not, so I can't comment on that.) I also know the line-arts will get changed now, since it would be too much of an issue for Tess if she doesn't. So I'm not going to go around assuming I know what Tess has and hasn't done about this already, and just vote for what I was asked about; do I want all of the horses/ponies to be in the current regular line-art. This does mot mean I think the old line-art is more important than dealing with art theft. This does not mean I think art theft is fine and dandy. This means I don't want all of the horses on identical line-art. So do us all a favor and stop assuming you know why we vote what we do when you obviously don't.

I'm not trying to put words into anyone's mouth. I am, however, calling it like I see it.
We all agree there are issues with the artistic integrity of the lines. Equimagine herself admitted to this. I don't think they were done maliciously or in bad faith, and we don't need to punish her for that, it's not what this thread is for. However, there's still this problem.
People who are voting no to the change and are aware of these problems are valuing their aesthetic choices over fixing this problem of artistic integrity.
You can't really get around it, I'm afraid.

So you really believe the only reason people are voting no is because they don't know or don't care about art theft and the integrity of this site?? There is no other side to it?? You wont even try to look at it from any other angle?

Sure, there are other sides to it, namely that they like how the old lineart looks better.
But if they're aware of the artistic integrity issues and still vote no for the change, by doing so, they are placing their aesthetic preference above this question of CS's artistic integrity.
There's really no getting around it, I'm afraid.

I think she means these...
Pet's name: ♥Arietta♥
Pet's name: ♥Eros♥
Since they're not equimagine's horses they won't change though.

There is no point in arguing further. A simple, "I don't believe that and that is my reason for wanting change" is all that is needed, not multiple pages of discussion.
If you wish to read the explanation given for the tracing issue, it's on the front page.

Creating a flash mob will not make anything happen. It will only get frustrating for all sides.
- If you have said your reasons for your vote, then be off with you.
There is no reason for you to badger other users for voting the way they want. If you do not agree with their opinion/reasons, then complain elsewhere. They have every right to vote as they see fit as you do.
I'm quoting this again because you guys are getting more and more and more fiery about this. Can we please calm down and have civilized conversations about this? Just because someone has a different opinion from you doesn't mean that they are trying to personally offend you, and if they are somehow offending you then you ought to be able to sit down and work it out.
All Tess needs from us is whether we want all of the lines to be changed, or whether we don't. There's no need to insult one another over such a trivial matter!
