70% thinks warrior cats is stupid. 25% say who cares. Repost if you are part of that 5% that would take a hard cover warrior cat book and slap the other people saying, "STARCLAN IS OUT FOR REVENGE!!"

This question was previously asked but never answered.

When applying for an item artist, for the item of choice, would you prefer only one item or can we do more than one? Similar to how the example is in shades and a shirt.

Only one item is required but it's fine to do more than one if you want

I'm still debating whether or not to try for a guest artist. The unique-ness of it as an experience attracts me still.

Edit: Also I want to clarify, since Ive seen a few contradicting answers; blending, opacity, and airbrush, which is okay or not and how do you tell? In the attached image I used an airbrush tool on one part, different layers and opacity on another, and just straight up blending two solid colors on a third portion. They all produce the same midtone, from the palette provided, just with different neat-ness compared to time spent.

Blending and gradients are fine.
Blending and soft brush/gradients are okay. Opacity is not.

Not my pet design just used it because I had the file open.

It's fine to ask questions, that doesn't impact your chances :)

The example you posted is fine (example of what we call blending)

just avoid having that mid-blended mid section color stand on its own somewhere, it should only occur where its a blend from 2 shades into each other

I also noticed that the whole eye is on one layer, does that mean that even the sclera (white of the eye) is free game?

i'm working on possibly submitting an application, but i've got a question i couldn't quite find the answer to anywhere in the guidelines for applying.

i am aware you must only use the colors from the provided palettes, but what if say, i wanted to use different layer styles such as add, multiply, overlay etc..? (for small details or coloring the eyes to match the style somewhat)
i am consistently inactive, i come and go as i please for monthly adopts and events. i rarely respond to trades unless im looking for something.

There isn't a set date - it depends how long it takes us to review all the applications! For other staff hirings it can take a few months, but since this is the first artist application there is nothing to compare it too yet.

Other than the shading layer, you shouldn't use blend modes in your design. Even if you are *technically* using the right colors, it doesn't look like it on the design. We should be able to clearly see where the colors came from on the palette.

However, you can do whatever you'd like on the eyes. The eyes don't have to use palette colors so you are free to use anything, including layer modes.

I do apologize for doing this right close to the deadline since I wanted to seriously consider if I wanted to try for the position, and I decided I do, but I can't find anywhere when the deadline is? If it's today, what time does it close?
