Your point is valid.. however.. I disagree. I cannot look at the pictures and convict someone years later. I guarantee you there is a whole backstory to this thing that we don't know. Tess and some others prolly know about it. I may see the weapon.. but the person is still innocent until proven guilty. I need all of the facts to convict her and that takes more than just the pictures. That would take talking to the person or people she allegedly copied from.. and that is not gonna happen.

Be nice, everyone. Some people are only on the site for the equimagine horses specifically, because those are the pets they prefer by far and the others are simply collected for the sake of trading. If the equimagine lines were changed to ones they didn't like, they'd have no further reason to stay and may very well simply lose interest and leave, which is entirely valid. It's not a matter of "they didn't win" or anything like that, simply that the thing they were here for has ceased to exist.

Going with a completely different example, if the RP boards were shut down, there'd probably be a lot of people angry and upset and who would leave because they were only here for the RPs. It's not that they aren't 'mature enough to accept change' or 'stomping their feet because they lost', it's just they have no other strong reason for being on the site. When the thing they enjoyed most and stayed for isn't there anymore, it's entirely reasonable for them to move on if they feel like it. I hope that they wouldn't quit, but if they did, all the best to them. :3

I think the RP boards are the best example that could be used. People use copyrighted images all the time. Some people steal artwork. Some even try to steal characters. There are actually certain authors/book companies that have threatened legal action if fanfic or RPs are made about their stories. So technically, the RP boards could get them in a lot of trouble if they don't realize that, and could have to be taken down for legal issues. Not the same thing, but a great example.

^^^^And what is more important than that.. I was not asked to be on the jury. Tess asked our opinion regarding uniformity.. and cleaner lines... not whether or not we should make Equie dissappear.

the owners of the photos have already been contacted, and shutterstock did express their concerns and stated they're looking into the issue [not trying to cause panic - but as stated a few pages ago, it wasn't simply the mandatory email]. however, i believe the worst they'll do is contact tess about it rather than actually filing a complaint - it could happen, though. and even if it doesn't, that doesn't make it right.

You are 100% correct.. I assume anyway.. I am NOT the DMCA and as I said before.. If you are voting yes to prevent something from happening.. or to protect CS's reputation.. Not a problem.

I just dont like people saying they have legal proof and that Equie sucks and everything she did needs to be burned immediately. If not.. CS will be shut down tomorrow. As if it is will be the people who vote no's fault if something happens to the site. It really bothers me that people will go to such great lengths to bully others into thinking how they think...

i honestly don't care if the pictures were traced or what ever. i hate hearing these speeches about "oh we're a community based on honest art work" and blah blah blah. you can't scold her for it! we have all been guilty of some sort of copying or tracing or what ever! we all went to school, we all wanted short cuts on our assignments! this is no different! a simple misunderstanding...a simple slip-up stop getting into such and uproar over it. it's done and over with what ever damage had been done is already done. so just drop the issue and stop creating more problems for yourself CS. :thumbdown:

It's not a misunderstanding at all, and your comparison doesn't fit. A better example would be copying my entire paper from a friend, turning that in, and getting away with it for a while. It's not right, and it's even worse here since her lines were made public. It's obviously not done and over with, otherwise this thread wouldn't exist.

Also, if they're such good friends, ask for their email or something. There are also tons of other sites where you guys can meet up.

And for the last bit, that wouldn't solve the problem. In fact, it would create more work for the artists and Nick and just blow past the point.

Only the images will change, so any pet with the old lines stays in your account. c:

edit: In other words, it's basically an image update, but you'll still have the pet themselves.

I never IMPLIED it, I said its a legal issue more than an opinion issue. Honestly, if there WASN'T a legal issue attached to it I would be indifferent to the changes.

I'm not telling them its wrong to disagree, I'm just saying its more legal than some people are treating it.

I AM not in any way superior to anyone and I am a bit put off that explaining how the legal system affects this is seen as 'superior acting'.

Okay its clear to me that even trying to discuss this is pointless, I'm agreeing with people on changing the lines and am being told I'm acting rude and superior and its pretty upsetting.
I'm not trying to make people feel bad, I think people can have opinions and that's fine, if they prefer the lines thats fine, but I think its better off changing it then RISKING getting in trouble.

Whether or not they're all traced, they have the taint, and I think one line tracing is enough. But apparently that's me being superior. I'll just bow out now. I apologize for not being completely one hundred percent all knowing on certain things.

In that case I'm sorry for saying so, but I don't see how stating that their opinions don't matter as much as legal factors isn't in the least disrespectful. No, they'll all change to the new versions as the updates are finished, so you won't lose any pets. :3
