It is better to die loved and beautiful than to struggle and die years later hated and forgotten.

Im not gonna lie, im laughing over how dramatic this is

lol no it really doesn't? it's literally just changing the linearts of stolen lines. i don't understand why, if you love CS so much, you are being so overdramatic about a change that will help the site. equimagine's lines have been the source of multiple arguments since i've joined and to be quite frank, the yulynh lines will change this site for the better. really, it's just a freaking game.

It loved the site as it was. A beautiful site dying as a beautiful one is better than a beautiful site becoming tainted and dying later.
So you would rather CS shut down because of copyright? then let it stay online for everyone else who is fine with the change to enjoy?
Perhaps I'm a selfish person and I would rather that happened. According to others, the site would not have been shut down though.

While I cannot speak for the staff on this, I can make a wild guess as to why the deeper issue of traced line art was not officially broached earlier...

Just look at the harsh words flying in this thread... all it would take is one person getting mad and deciding to 'blow the whistle' on a spur of the moment emotional rush and all of the old line art horses would have to be gone in 24 hours... players would simply log on and be missing pets with little or no warning. It is my guess that they did the poll hoping that people would vote overwhelmingly to change the lines so that the horses could wear and use more items so that the subject of the copied lines would not have to be broadcast, but when the vote was as close as it was they took the risk to explain the deeper reasoning, trusting the players that claim to love the game to understand the reason why it must happen. (All my guesses as to what is behind it all)

There are people that are upset about it and attacking them for being upset is bullying and rude... they have the right to their feelings and opinions. They are upset and not everyone can adapt to change easily (as an example, those with Aspergers have a hard time with change) so perhaps grace in "winning" must be practiced as much as being a graceful loser.

Some are upset that they were given a voice to vote when in truth they never had a voice at all but were given the illusion that they did. I do not believe for one instant that this was intentional and that if they could turn back the clock they would in an instant. Forgive the past to forge the future, learn from it and grow.

I am of the 'group' that believes that the older horse lines, while they must be replaced for the integrity of the site and the game, deserve to have a look of their own... if not fully, then at least a small line edit to let us know that we are seen and as players who love those older horses and the game, we are not being ignored.

We have no choice in this happening... we do have a choice in working together and finding a way to make it more pleasant for all of us...

Guys, guys.

Just to repeat and get it out there.
It are PIXELS. its not a dying species. Its not something with a tainted background. Its NOT sad or dramatic.

Its a bunch of pixels. For the love of god stop being so dramatic.
Its not the end of the world. its a bunch of pixels that will be replaced with a better. Dare I say legaler kind of pixels. So calm down.

Please.

Since many of the older images have been copied from photos, we can't really maintain an official collection of them on the site. You're more than welcome to save the old images to your computer, or make you own archive website to show other CS users how they used to look. However - note that your own archive website could also be at risk of removal for copyright infringement if the photographers (whose images were copied) decided to report it.

Just to confirm, does this mean we cannot make a thread on CS with the old linearts (sorta like the unofficial transparent archive)?

I'm pretty sure we can't have them anywhere as it still counts as illegal usage - even if you put them on other sites too, as there's a risk the other site may be warned and told the material has to come off. Like Tess said: "note that your own archive website could also be at risk of removal for copyright infringement if the photographers (whose images were copied) decided to report it". So no, I'm pretty sure no threads can be made. However, you'll have to get a second opinion.

Done is done, no use worrying. The change will happen so, there are three options: like it, grin and bear it, or leave. Your choice.

And, yeah, different species. These are all horses. Horses are horses, line doesn't matter.
I'M BACK IN BLACK.

LOL Harpalyce

All right, that's what I thought as well. Thanks!
