so your point is this is a popularity issue..hmm that is not what I read at all. Every month there is popular and not so popular designs..following your thinking then that would mean altering artist's creations on a regular basis to boost their popularity on the site....that would be an insult to every artist on here who spend a lot of "free" time doing this because they love it while trying to balance their personal lives too.. I love the new line art..couldn't be more in awe of the talent (being a horse owner in real life) However, the issue of altering work already created can not be justified in my mind for any reason!

The designs were Equimagines work. The lines were not. The designs would be staying. The line art would not. Seems more than fair to me. There are plenty of artists out there that have personal lives and still manage to create original artwork rather than tracing.
I don't see it as a popularity issue myself. My decision is purely based off of the rules and regulations of CS and the need to follow these rules. No one is above the law, including staff.

@G.L.'s- Yep, they mentioned changing the unicorns, the donkeys, and the zebras. (:

@eclipseranch please don't constrew what I am saying, I never stated that this was a popularity contest. Plus, this alteration is justified through its possible form of art theft. If any other user on this site were to engage in something similar, it would be branded art theft and they would be served the consequences, rightfully so.

Re: Equine Transformation Project - REMEMBER TO VOTE!

For anyone who cares to listen, here are my reasons for why I am all for this change.
Hopefully some of you can take these points into consideration and possibly make your vote a yes.

1) I have been here since the beginning and I never liked Equimagines horses. I always thought her designs looked messy, like she didn't put much thought into them. I mean look, here's some by her (x x x) , and some by yulynh (x x x). I feel like Yulyhn has a lot more talent, and can make some of the designs by equi look better. Look at the examples on the first page. It's not hard to tell which artist put more time into the horses. I think that Yulyhn might be able to fix up some of the sloppy work. (I am not saying equimagine is a bad artist, I just personally don't like any of her work on here.)

2) The change would be very helpful when it comes to dressing horses. We have three horse lines right now, equi's old lines, her updated lines, and yulynh's current lines (four if you count the tess horse). They're going to be updating old items to match yulyhn's lines, so this way you'd be able to dress all of your horses. This makes thinks a lot more uniform and organized. It's just confusing having a bunch of useless items that you can't put on the new horses, or vice versa.

3) Chickensmoothie has high standards when it comes to art theft. Why else would there be that big red sign above the art forums? Yet, as much as people don't like to think about it, Equimagines lines are traced. No, they are not heavily referenced, and even if they were, she gave no credit to the pictures she stole her lines from. Just look at these:
( Draft - Horse - foal 1 - foal 2)
The second foal is exactly identical! There is no way that was done on accident or whatever she claims it to be. I'm sick of people defending her lines and saying they love her work. It wasn't her work. It's STOLEN. It doesn't matter if you like them, it doesn't matter if it's part of cs history. They're stolen and should have been replaced years ago. I don't understand why some of the mods are trying to keep this fact quiet, when it's a HUGE factor. I've seen people changing their votes when they learn that the lines were stolen, this fact should not be hid from people. The fact that they're traced is completely relevant to this discussion and should be made known to everyone without sugar coating it.

K I'm done for now.

The old lineart was compromised and shows signs of being traced. CS is a site which prides itself on its hard stance towards art theft. If we don't change the designs [which are Equi's own] onto new lines, we look like hypocrites. While yes, we would be altering the images, Equi signed over her art and her designs to Tess. Legally Tess can choose what she wants to do with them. She's asking your opinions and while it's fine you don't want to see them changed there are plenty of reasons which constitute this. Not only do we remove a dishonest lineart from the site, but we maintain consistency throughout the species which will allow users to fully enjoy the equines in all purposes of dressing them up. It also means that their demand will probably go up, as many people never collected the Equi horses because they did not like the lines.

Both the copywrite issues and the item issues are very good points, but I sort of wonder where it will end.

We have heaps of different versions of horse linearts, and since they're all different shapes and sizes most of our horse items will only fit one or 2 different types. Not to mention it just looks weird having all these different shapes and sizes on one site!

If a concern is there being too much variation on the horses and there being many different linearts for a single species, then you have to address those issues with the old sitting cat lineart and the new cat lineart. The fussing about two variations of one species and not two variations of another needs to be addressed.

I agree completely with you, thank you for encouraging me to vote yes, I think that by removing the possibly stolen art, you're maintaining the rules the site is set.

Would the Malk Horse lines change? I love the new horse lines, but I am very fond of the Malk horse lines.

No. Malk lines would stay the same. They're considered special lines rather than standard monthly lines.

I didn't "constrew" the word unpopular and boost popularity were your words in your post...curious though you guys are stating this was not Equi's line art yet its theft...hmm interesting

my point remains the same you want to "alter" what has already been created by someone
the words can be twisted however individuals want but the alteration is the basic issue.
if all my horses IRL had the same build but were different colors it would be rather boring around my ranch..just sayin
